Adult Ladies Football:
Our Division 1 team played the final round of their league on Saturday 28th June away to Monagea. It was a very tough game, both teams showing real determination and fight for every score. Monagea lead by four points at half time and despite Mungret’s best efforts, Monagea held their lead until the final whistle. With 5 wins under their belt from the group games, the Mungret ladies have topped the group and are now into the semi-final on Thursday 3rd June in Mungret at 7:15. Ironically, Monagea and Mungret will meet for a second time this week in that semi-final with Mungret playing at home this time. The very best of luck to everyone involved.
The very best of luck also to all involved in our Junior Team who are into the Division 4 League semi-final. They finished in second place in their group and will play Gerald Griffins in a home game on Wednesday 2nd July in crescent comp at 7:30pm.
A special mention to Carol Bateman, Tara Geoghegan and Aoife Morrissey who represented Mungret St. Pauls on the Limerick Ladies Football panel this year. We are so proud of you and your achievements playing with the county team this year. We look forward to seeing you back in your club colours again soon. Well done ladies.
Congratulations:
Congratulations to Mungret St. Pauls player, Daniel O’Connell on being chosen for the Irish U-18 Schools Rugby Squad for the Series in South Africa.

U16 Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 0-11 Monaleen 0-12
Mungret St. Pauls’ U-16 footballers suffered a heartbreaking one-point defeat to Monaleen in an absorbing Division 1 clash on Monday evening 30 June 2025, edged out by a last-minute free in what was a fiercely contested game from start to finish in Monaleens Pea Field pitch.
The game started slowly, with Monaleen striking the opening two points before Mungret St. Pauls got off the mark in the 14th minute with a well-taken point. This seemed to settle the visitors, who quickly added a second and then produced the game’s only two-pointer with a cleverly worked move that was calmly slotted between the uprights.
Mungret St. Pauls dominated much of the first half, putting together an impressive run of scores to stretch their lead to 0-7 to 0-2, controlling the tempo and defending solidly. Monaleen responded with two late points, but Mungret St. Pauls had the final say of the half with a well-taken point on the stroke of the whistle to go in at the break four points ahead: Mungret St. Pauls 0-8, Monaleen 0-4.
The second half saw Mungret St. Pauls extend their advantage to six points early on, with continued pressure and some excellent support play. However, a strong middle period from Monaleen saw the home side gradually wrestle back control, capitalising on some uncharacteristic turnovers and converting their chances efficiently.
Mungret St. Pauls, despite their earlier dominance, went through a dry spell in front of goal, and Monaleen took full advantage—drawing level and eventually edging ahead by a single point as the clock ticked into injury time.
In a dramatic finish, Mungret St. Pauls showed great character to level the match with a composed point under pressure. But heartbreak struck just moments later when Monaleen were awarded a free deep into stoppage time, which they duly converted to seal the win.
While the result was disappointing for Mungret St. Pauls, there were plenty of positives to take from a performance filled with intensity, discipline, and excellent teamwork. The players can be proud of their display, and with continued effort, they’ll be well positioned to bounce back in their upcoming fixtures.
Premier Minor Hurling:
Mungret St. Pauls 3-15 Na Piarsaigh 2-23
Mungret St. Pauls’ Premier Minor hurlers played their part in an exhilarating, high-scoring contest on home soil on Wednesday 2 July 2025, but ultimately came up short against a sharp-finishing Na Piarsaigh side in a game that had everything: goals, cards, momentum swings, and drama until the final whistle.
It was Na Piarsaigh who opened the scoring with an early point, but Mungret St. Pauls responded in style, racking up 1-4 to 0-2 inside the opening ten minutes, with a brilliant seventh-minute goal igniting the home crowd. The sides exchanged two points each before Mungret St. Pauls struck again—this time with their second goal, ten minutes later, showcasing excellent attacking interplay.
Despite their commanding early lead, Mungret St. Pauls momentum slowed in the closing stages of the half. While they only managed two more points, Na Piarsaigh grew into the game and rattled off six unanswered points before the break. To compound matters, Mungret St. Pauls were reduced to 14 men after a second yellow card.
Still, Mungret St. Pauls clung to a narrow lead at the break: Mungret St. Pauls 2-8, Na Piarsaigh 0-11. Na Piarsaigh came flying out of the blocks in the second half and leveled the game with a well-taken goal. That score served as a wake-up call for Mungret St. Pauls, who responded superbly, notching five consecutive points in a show of character and resilience.
The visitors, however, showed their class, stringing together six points without reply to turn the game on its head and edge ahead by a single point. Mungret St. Pauls goalkeeper was called into action during that spell, pulling off a crucial save to keep his side in touch.
With time ticking down, a superbly struck ’65 from Mungret St. Pauls leveled the match again, but Na Piarsaigh kept their composure and struck four quick points to create daylight once more. Mungret St. Pauls weren’t done yet, responding with a point and their third goal, a powerful finish that brought the game level yet again.
In a gripping finale, Na Piarsaigh hit back almost immediately with their second goal, pushing ahead once more. A late straight red card reduced Na Piarsaigh to 14 men, but they steadied and closed out the game with two final points to seal a dramatic five-point win.
Despite the defeat, Mungret St. Pauls can take huge pride in their performance. With grit, heart, and scoring firepower, they pushed one of the top sides all the way and showed plenty of reasons for optimism as the championship continues.
U14 Hurling:
Mungret St. Pauls 1-12 Monaleen 5-9
Mungret St. Pauls U-14 Hurlers put in a spirited and determined performance on Thursday evening, 3 July 2025 in Monaleen but were ultimately undone by a clinical Monaleen side whose goals proved decisive in this high-quality Division 1 encounter.
From the throw-in, Mungret St. Pauls showed intent, moving the ball well and striking over a series of fine points to keep pace with the hosts. Their forward line worked hard to create scoring chances, thanks to some sharp shooting and clever interplay.
Monaleen’s ability to strike goals at crucial moments was a turning point in the contest. A pair of first-half green flags gave the home side a slight edge at the break, despite Mungret St. Pauls superior points tally. In the second half, Mungret St. Pauls continued to fight, showing great heart and work rate around the middle third. A well-worked team move led to a superb goal midway through the half that brought them right back into contention and had the visiting supporters in full voice. But as Mungret St. Pauls pressed forward, Monaleen capitalised on space at the back and added three more goals, which stretched the margin. To their credit, Mungret St. Pauls never dropped their heads and in the final minutes closed the gap and finished with a strong 1-12 on the scoreboard. The final whistle marked the end of a hard-fought battle, with Mungret St. Pauls left to rue a few missed chances. This match will stand as a valuable learning experience for this talented group, who showed plenty of skill, fight, and togetherness throughout. With continued development and the same commitment shown on the night, they’ll no doubt bounce back strongly in the games ahead.
