West Junior A League Semi Final

Askeaton-Ballysteen-Kilcornan 6-16 Killeedy 3-13

Our junior A Hurlers qualified for the West Junior A Hurling League Final on Saturday last following a comprehensive win against Killeedy in Rathkeale. Five first half goals from a dominant forward line was enough to put the result beyond doubt by half time. Playing fast ball in to our inside forwards reaped huge rewards as Fiachra Butler-White had his marker in all sorts of bother and buried two excellent goals to really launch our challenge. The flying Oisin O’Farrell would add two splendid goals for himself as Killeedy failed to cope with his penetrating runs. Full forward Jamie Dolan put the icing on the cake of a five star first half performance with another green flag to send us in at half time 17 points clear. To their credit Killeedy rallied in the second half netting three late goals as we emptied our bench. We now face Tournafulla in the West League Final this Thursday nightin Newcastle West as we bid to add a second league title in a month following our footballers West league success.

ABK Desmonds 2-03 Newcastle West 1-05

Our under 13 hurlers qualified for the County Final on Friday night last following a nail biting one point win over Newcastle West. We raced out of the blocks with two great goals from Danny Anglim to establish a healthy five point half time lead. Playing against a strong breeze it was backs to the wall stuff in the second half but from one to fifteen our young hurlers courageously fought for every ball to hang on for a fine win for the club. Special mention to our full back Noah O Malley who caught some great balls throughout the game.

We now play Garryspillane in the County Final. Well done to all players and management.
