Patrickswell GAA Club Notes:
Senior Hurlers:
The Senior hurlers are scheduled to host Mungret on Friday May 2 at 7.00pm in the City League.
Junior Hurlers:
Patrickswell had mixed fortunes in the City League. Against Mungret, we raced into a 1-5 to 0-2 lead within 15 minutes thanks to Andrew Carroll’s goal and points from Josh Carey, Kieran Long, Jonathan McMahon, Dayle McDonagh and Liam Fitzgerald. Mungret were tougher before half-time and Patrickswell reached the interval at 1-8 to 0-6 ahead (Andrew Carroll, Billy Earls and Dayle McDonagh).
Patrickswell were never threatened in the second half and led by 1-13 to 0-8 on 45 minutes (Dayle McDonagh, Kieran Long, Liam Fitzgerald, Andrew Carroll and Calvin Carroll). Patrickswell closed out the victory of 1-17 to 0-10 with late points from Peter Harty, Billy Earls, Kieran Long and Cian Enright.
The home match against Monaleen was decided by our visitors’ ability to hit the net. Monaleen notched a goal within two minutes, but Patrickswell had rallied to 1-3 to 0-3 after 15 minutes (Andrew Carroll 0-2 and Kieran Long). Patrickswell were in touching distance just before half-time after outpointing Monaleen by five points to four (Eoin Harmon 0-2, Andrew Carroll, Liam Fitzgerald and Josh Carey. Unfortunately, a cruel blow was struck by Monaleen’s second goal. Patrickswell were 2-7 to 0-8 behind at the break.
At the start of the second half, Patrickswell were stunned by two goals and four points from Monaleen, which eclipsed four points from Liam Fitzgerald 0-2 and Calvin Carroll 0-2. We were adrift by 4-11 to 0-12 with twenty minutes left. Patrickswell struggled to eat into the deficit and still trailed by 4-15 to 0-17 by the 55th minute (Hugh Maher, Liam Fitzgerald 0-3 and Calvin Carroll). Points from Hugh Maher and Peter Harty preceded a penalty from Andrew Carroll that slashed the arrears to five points. However, Monaleen registered two insurance points to win by 4-17 to 1-19. The next match is scheduled for Tuesday April 29 at 7.00pm against Claughaun in Patrickswell.
