Adult Ladies Football:
Division 1 League: Mungret St. Paul’s 3-10 Knockainey 0-8
Well done to our Division 1 team who had a great win over Knockainey in the second round of their league on Monday 21st April. The last time these two teams met was in the Intermediate County Final last October when Mungret were crowed county champions, therefore this fixture was always going to be a ferocious battle. Mungret were awarded a penalty early in the game which put them in the lead, a lead they held onto for the duration of the game. A clean sheet for goalie Carol Bateman and three brilliant goals scored by the Mungret ladies, were ultimately what divided the two teams. This team are out again in the third round of the league on Monday 5th May at home to St. Ailbes. Well done to all players and management involved with this team.
Division 4 League: Mungret St. Paul’s 3-9 Knockainey 3-13
Hard luck to our Division 4 team who also travelled to Knockainey on Monday 21st April to play their second round of the league. A point was all that divided the two teams at half time with Mungret leading at half time 1-4 to 1-3. The second half saw some fantastic scores from both teams, however a late penalty for Knockainey put them in the lead which they held onto until the final whistle. Well done to all players and to the girls who made their debut for this team on the day. Their next game is on Saturday 3rd May at home to Ballylanders.
Junior A Hurling:
Mungret St. Pauls 0-10 Patrickswell 1-17
Patrickswell produced a commanding performance in Mungret on Tuesday evening, 22 April 2025 to secure a comprehensive ten-point win over Mungret St. Pauls in the Junior A Hurling League.
The visitors started brightly and maintained control throughout, with a well-taken goal in the opening half helping them to a five-point lead at the break. Mungret St. Pauls kept in touch through points from play and placed balls but struggled to break down a disciplined Patrickswell defence.
In the second half, Patrickswells sharpness shone through, they added nine more points to their tally, pulling further away with a series of scores. Their movement and support play proved too much for Mungret St. Pauls, who could only manage four more points in response. Mungret St. Pauls battled gamely to the final whistle and showed moments of promise. That was the last of the League matches for this team as they prepare for the Championship.
U13 Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 3-9 Knockainey 0-2
Mungret St. Pauls produced a dominant performance on Thursday evening 24 April 2025, as they ran out convincing 3-9 to 0-2 winners over Knockainey in the U13 Football League Division 1 in Knockainey.
Right from the throw-in, Mungret St. Paus showed great energy and intent, pushing forward at every opportunity. Their early pressure paid off as they rattled the net for their first goal within the opening stages, setting the tone for the game.
The Mungret St. Pauls forwards combined brilliantly throughout, with quick passing and sharp movement creating plenty of scoring chances. Two further goals before half-time put Mungret firmly in control, while their defence stood strong, limiting Knockainey’s opportunities to just two points over the course of the match.
In the second half, Mungret St. Pauls continued to dominate possession and added a series of fine points to their tally. Even as Knockainey battled bravely, they found it difficult to break through a well-organised Mungret St. Pauls backline.
In the end, Mungret St. Pauls ran out deserved winners, with a complete team performance that showcased skill, teamwork, and determination. It’s another encouraging result for the group as they build momentum in the league.
U13 Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 1-9 Ballylanders 3-3
Mungret St. Pauls and Ballylanders played out a thrilling encounter in the U13 Football League Division 3, with the sides eventually sharing the spoils after a hard-fought 1-9 to 3-3 draw in Ballylanders on Thursday 24 April 2025.
It was Ballylanders who struck first with an early goal, but Mungret St. Pauls responded well, settling into the game and picking off some fine points. Mungret St. Pauls patient build-up play paid off midway through the half when they found the back of the net themselves, bringing the sides level.
The match remained tight throughout, with Ballylanders making the most of their chances to score two more crucial goals, keeping them in the hunt. Mungret St. Pauls, however, showed great resilience, with their accurate point-taking proving vital in keeping the scoreboard ticking over.
In a tense final few minutes, both teams pushed for a winner, but strong defending at either end ensured that neither side could pull clear. At full-time, it finished level, a result that fairly reflected an even contest full of energy and determination. Both teams can take plenty of positives from a very competitive match as they look ahead to the next round.
Senior Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 2-10 Ballylanders 0-9
Mungret St. Pauls continued their strong start to the Senior Football League campaign with a well-earned 2-10 to 0-9 victory over Ballylanders in Mungret on Saturday evening, 26 April 2025. Mungret St. Pauls showed their intent early, controlling possession and pressing high. Their dominance was rewarded just before the 10-minute mark when they found the net for the first time, giving them a crucial early lead. Ballylanders responded with a couple of well-taken points, but struggled to penetrate a disciplined Mungret St. Pauls defence.
As half-time approached, Mungret St. Pauls struck again with a second goal, a decisive blow that stretched their lead and left Ballylanders with a mountain to climb. At the break, Mungret St. Pauls held a commanding 2-5 to 0-4 advantage.
Ballylanders came out battling in the second half, picking off some good scores to try and close the gap. However, Mungret St. Pauls kept their composure, managing the game well and adding five more points to maintain a comfortable cushion throughout.
Despite Ballylanders’ efforts, they could never truly threaten a comeback, and Mungret St. Pauls strong defensive performance ensured they saw the game out safely. The final score read Mungret St. Paul’s 2-10 allylanders 0-9, a fair reflection of a game where the home side were always in control.
A solid performance from Mungret St. Paul’s, who top the league table having lost no game so far. They now wait for the Semi final fixture.
Junior B Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 3-12 Ballybricken Bohermore 4-7
Mungret St. Pauls secured a hard-fought 3-12 to 4-7 victory over Ballybricken Bohermore in an exciting Junior B Football clash played in Caherelly on Sunday 27 April 2025.
Mungret St. Pauls hit the ground running, raising their first green flag inside four minutes, and following it up with a second goal by the 10th minute to take early control of the game. However, Ballybricken Bohermore soon found their rhythm, and just as the game entered the second quarter, they netted their first goal to close the gap to three points.
As the half wore on, Ballybricken continued to press and were rewarded with their second goal just before half-time, giving them a slender 2-5 to 2-4 lead at the break, despite Mungret St. Pauls strong start.
With the breeze at their backs for the second half, Mungret St. Pauls wasted no time levelling the match with the first score after the restart and then nudging themselves back in front. The contest remained finely poised until Ballybricken Bohermore struck for their third goal around the 15-minute mark, bringing the sides level once again.
Mungret St. Pauls responded brilliantly, scoring their third goal shortly afterwards to regain the lead. Although Ballybricken Bohermore kept battling and found a fourth goal late on to pull back within two points, Mungret St. Pauls held firm in the closing stages, tagging on crucial points to see out a deserved win.
It was a lively, entertaining match full of momentum swings, but Mungret St. Pauls point-taking and resilience under pressure ultimately proved the difference. They finish the league in a respectable third place after 5 games.
Easter Camp:
Over the Easter break, our club was thrilled to host a fantastic 3-day GAA Easter Camp, welcoming boys and girls aged 6–13 for a fun-filled few days of sport, skill-building, and smiles! Each morning kicked off with a warm-up and some icebreakers to get the kids energized and ready for the day. Throughout the camp, children rotated through a series of engaging and age-appropriate activities that focused on the core skills of Gaelic football and hurling/camogie and even an introduction to rounders. Activities included kicking, catching, soloing, agility, striking, and teamwork-based drills.
Our experienced and enthusiastic club coaches ensured every child was included and encouraged, creating a supportive and positive environment where players could develop both confidence and ability. Fun mini-games, skills challenges, and team-building activities kept spirits high, with plenty of breaks for snacks and chat.
The final day featured a mini-blitz where kids had the chance to show off everything they had learned in a friendly and spirited series of games. Each child was returned to their parents/ guardians tired but happy wrapping 1up the camp on a high note.
Huge thanks to our coaches, parents, and club members who helped make the camp such a success especially Breandán O’hAnnaidh who organised and supervised each day. Most importantly, well done to all the young players who brought their energy, effort, and brilliant attitudes each day. We’re already looking forward to the next camp!
