Twelve teams remain and it is all knockout football now.
That was the case for those who featured in Round 2B last week with University of Galway, MTU Kerry, ATU Sligo, and Maynooth University securing valuable victories to stay in the Sigerson race.
University of Galway’s excellent win over Queens was encouraging, but a demanding match awaits against UL.
Corofin forward Jack McCabe has impressed for UL, but University of Galway feature plenty of inter-county talent including Cian Hernon and Ryan O’Donoghue.
Keith Evans starred in MTU Kerry’s shock success over UCC and they now face MTU Cork.
MTU Cork dominated in the opening period when overcoming ATU Donegal with Keith O’Driscoll and Edward Myers prominent before losing to TUS Midlands.
DCU Dóchas Eireann were defeated by UCD at Belfield, but Luke Marren and Conor Dolan produced impressive displays.
ATU Sligo’s panel is nicely stocked with promising footballers such as Daire O’Boyle, Matthew Carey, and Jack Lavin.
On Wednesday evening it should be a lively encounter too between Maynooth University and St Mary’s.
Maynooth University cruised to an emphatic win over ATU Donegal with Luke Crowley netting three goals.
St Mary’s initially beat Queens, but subsequently lost a high scoring tussle with TU Dublin. Niall McKenna was excellent for The Ranch, contributing 2-7 in that game.
