Camogie:
Our U10s and U12s finished up an incredibly busy year of camogie last week by hosting a Christmas jumper training night followed by pizza and selection boxes!
Enjoy the break girls, but be sure to keep those Hurleys in yer hands, before you know it we will be back at it in the new year!
Thanks to all the coaches for all your hard work throughout the year too, from greeting the girls with a smile, to remembering everyone’s names and of course making each session fun, which is critical to us keeping our huge numbers! We appreciate you!
And don’t forget parents, if the girls get loads of new camogie gear at Christmas, don’t throw away any old boots, hurleys and helmet, we will find a home for them at the club, just talk to your lead coach!

Minor Camogie:
Our Minors headed to the University of Limerick on Sunday for the blitz format championship.
It was a mixed bag in every sense of the word with our young team coming away with 1 draw and 2 losses in what can only be described as monsoon type weather conditions!

Ladies Football:
Mungret St. Paul’s 0-8 Coolera Strandhill 1-5 (ET)
30M Free Kicks
Mungret St. Paul’s:3 Coolera Strandhill: 1
On Saturday 30th November the Mungret Ladies Senior Football team, along with their management team, left the clubhouse at 8:45am to begin their bus journey to Sligo. They stopped along the way for breakfast in Claremorris, many thanks to the McWilliam Park Hotel for providing a fabulous meal for everyone, before the last leg of the journey to Kilcoyne Park GAA pitch in Tubbercurry, Sligo. Many thanks to Kilcoyne Park GAA Club for the use of their fantastic facilities on the day. The team had a few minutes to walk the pitch and take it all in. An All Ireland Semi-Final, it’s still hard to believe. The girls took to the pitch in their white jerseys after their well orchestrated warm up. They stood proudly together as a team, lead by captain Áine Ryan, for the national anthem and before they knew it, the time had come to fight for a place in the All Ireland Final. The first half saw few scores from either side with Coolera Strandhill leading at half time by a single point with a scoreline of 0-2 to 0-1. The scoreboard most definitely wasn’t a reflection of the fantastic talent and brilliant football on display for the first half. No one could have predicted what would unfold in the second half, a nail biting half for both sides. Coolera Strandhill scored what could have been described as a heartbreaking goal for Mungret in the last few minutes of normal time putting them 3 points ahead. Some might have said that was it, but the Mungret girls had other ideas and were not going to go down without a fight. Gráinne McKenna put two frees between the posts narrowing the gap to 1 point in the closing few minutes of injury time. With thirty seconds to go, Laura Dunne put the faith of the Mungret parish in Claire Coughlan’s trustworthy hands to equalise the game. Extra time saw scores from Megan O’Malley and Gráinne McKenna, putting Mungret ahead by a point but Coolera Strandhill were unwilling to give up and equalised in the final few seconds. When referee Ciaran Groome blew the final whistle, there was a sudden realisation, from all in attendance, deciding the all out winners of this game would come down to 30m free kicks. Gráinne McKenna, Claire Coughlan, Carol Bateman, Fiona Morrissey and Megan O’Malley bravely stood up to take the free kicks. Unfortunately for Coolera Strandhill they missed 3 out of their first 4 free kicks meaning Fiona Morrissey, Carol Bateman and Gráinne McKenna’s scores were enough to get the girls over the line and into the All Ireland Final. A historic day for Mungret St. Paul’s GAA club and a truly special day for the players, their families and friends, the management team and for the amazing club members and supporters in attendance and those who were supporting from far. Hard luck to Coolera Strandhill wishing you all the best in the future, thank you for a brilliant game. Many thanks to the match officials and referee and to everyone involved in the running and promotion of the match. A special thanks to all those who travelled to the match or tuned in to watch it on the day, your support is always so appreciated.
The girls will now face Donegal’s Na Dúnaibh Downings on Sunday 15th December in the All Ireland Final in Parnell Park, Dublin at 2pm. Best of luck to everyone involved, the whole club is behind you and we are so proud of your success so far this year.

U-20 Premier Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 2-11 Fr. Caseys 0-6
It was a sunny day in Sean Finn Park in Rathkeale when the U-20 Premier Footballers took on Fr. Caseys in the final infront of a generous crowd on Sunday 8 December 2024.
Having lost to Fr. Caseys in the opening game of the group, this game was for Mungret St. Pauls to win. Fr. Caseys got the scoring going but Mungret St. Pauls were quick to reply and went on to add more points to lead the game. With Fr. Caseys missing their targets, Mungret St. Pauls were on point for all their shots in the first half and only missing one in the second half from a free, Fr. Caseys were kicking and hoping to get the target but failed on many attempts. Fr. Caseys second point broke Mungret St. Pauls run of four points but it did not stop them as they went back to putting the ball between the uprights. Just before the first quarter was up a penalty to Mungret St. Pauls which was sent to the bottom left of the goal gave Mungret St. Pauls a great boost on their lead. The last quarter of the first half, Mungret St. Pauls added no more to their score with Fr. Caseys adding on another two points to go into the break Mungret St. Pauls 1-6 Fr. Caseys 0-4.
Mungret St. Pauls did not waste time as they restarted with another point which Fr. Caseys matched. There were another two points shared between the sides before Mungret St. Pauls set off on another stretch of scores. With three minutes left on normal time Mungret St. Pauls were down to 14 men after a black card but had a strong eight point lead. The last score of the game came as the Mungret St. Pauls forwards battled the Fr. Caseys defence and eventually got the ball into the back of the net to finish the game in style. After the game the U-20 Premier Football cup was presented to captain Jason Hassett. This was the second year in a row this cup is coming back to Mungret St. Pauls, a fantastic achievement by all involved.
