Junior A Camogie:
All roads led to Charleville last Thursday night for the much anticipated clash of Mungret and Feenagh kilmeedy in the Junior plate final.
Mungret started off very well and were unlucky with a few early efforts.
Jayne Casey finally broke the deadlock with a great point. This was followed up with a Niamh O Keefe minor after some great team work.
We were then hit with sucker punches as Feenaghs raised 2 green flags to go into a four point lead at half time.
At the restart our girls started off well again and we were rewarded with a goal from Niamh O Keefe.
The game went end to end with Feenagh getting a few points to go three up again.
Then Eimear O Keeffe struck for a great goal to put us level again.
It was a very tense affair from here to the end, we came back on two occasions with a great effort from our captain Ciara Brennan being the pick of these points.
It looked like it was going to extra time until we were awarded a 65 and our inter county star Ailbhe Larkin stepped up to put it between the posts for a famous victory.
It’s a great win for the girls and hopefully a stepping stone for the future!
Well done and huge congratulations to this group of girls and of course their Management team.
Thanks to Eamon Doody for some fantastic photos from the night also.
Full time score: Mungret 2-5 Feenagh kilmeedy 2-4.
Camogie AGM:
Our 2024 AGM took place on Sunday night in the Clubhouse.
It was great to see so many people in attendance in what can only be described as an incredibly positive and efficient meeting.
Our Chairperson Mary Barry Larkin welcomed all attendees before she gave us a run down of her 1st year in office with her very ably assisted Secretary in the form of Breda Considine by her side. We then heard from all other committee members, followed by a summary of the year from each of our lead coaches.
As with all Camogie Clubs, there were indeed ups and downs throughout the year, but one thing is for sure, MSPCamogie players have a great team of people and supporters behind them
and 2025 will indeed be a year to watch!
Keep an eye on our social media over the coming weeks as we announce our Committee Members for 2025!
Ladies Football:
Unfortunately the Minor team have now finished their season with a loss in the semi final to Galtee Gaels. Despite a good effort in the first half where Mungret just trailed by 2 points, it was not to be in the second half where GalteeGaels proved to be the stronger side and pulled away, Mungret unable to catch up. Well done to the management and team throughout the year.
Condolences:
Mungret St Paul’s were saddened to hear of the passing of our oldest supporter, Pat O’Kelly.
Pat in his playing days won a hurling county championship with Kilfinny, but with thanks to his grandchildren was a Mungret St. Pauls man in the end.
Our condolences to Pats family, husband wife, Olive, children, AnneMarie (Lloyd), Michael and Elva, son-in-law Mark, daughter-in-law Elaine, adored grandchildren Jack, Tom and George Lloyd and Aideen, Fintan and Aisling O’Kelly

U20 Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 2-10 Oola 0-9
On Saturday 23 November 2024 our U-20 Premier Footballers were out in Oola to play Oola in the second and last round match.
Mungret St. Pauls got their scores going from the start with Oola getting their first five points from frees with a sixth point from play giving Oola a four point lead coming into the end of the first quarter. Mungret St. Pauls never let their heads drop and a great run up the pitch with the ball passed on to one of our forwards saw the end result in a goal. There was a lot of action on the pitch following that play as both sides worked to get their next score, it was Mungret St. Pauls that with great team work finished well with a second goal and the lead back to Mungret St. Pauls. The Mungret St. Pauls goalie and backs were put under pressure as Oola tried to get their own goal but the Mungret St. Pauls defenders worked together and kept the ball out of the net. Half time score was Mungret St. Pauls 2-2 Oola 0-7.
The second half was where Mungret St. Pauls excelled in their performance. Oola got the first point at the restart to level the game but Mungret St. Pauls pushed on adding on four more points just as the tenth minute finished in the second half. Oola worked up their ninth point, this was their last point of the game as Mungret St. Pauls worked together as a team to keep the ball out of danger with our backs and the forwards getting in another four points to win convincingly to go forward and play Monaeen in the Semi Final on Saturday 30 in Old Christians at 2pm.
Primary Schools:
Well done to all the players on Thursday 21 November 2024 who took part in the Larkin Shield and the Sarsfield Cup Finals in TUS Gaelic Grounds.
The girls were first up to play the West and after a hard fought battle they were unlucky to come out in second place. Well done to Mungret St. Pauls players Emilie Crowe, April O Keefe Howard, Siún Kelly, Melissa Reeves, Chloe Hannon, Leah McAuliffe and Anna Lee.

Next up were the boys playing the South team. Another great match with little between the 2 sides but it was the goals scored near the closing of the game that pushed the City team to win the Sarsfield Cup. Congratulations to Mungret St. Pauls players Bob Nix, Paidi Mullins, Harry Newman, Tom Traynor and captain of the team Gearoid Ahern.
A very memorable moment for all players to play in the TUS Gaelic Grounds on behalf of your schools and club. A proud day for our players and their families and Mungret St Pauls.
