Ardscoil Rís continue their winning streak in Harty Cup with comfortable victory over Templemore:

ARDSCOIL Rís have made it two wins from two in their opening fixtures of the Dr Harty Cup Munster Post-Primary U19 hurling competition after a comfortable 0-24 to 0-16 victory over Our Ladys Templemore in Burgess this afternoon.
Their opening round win over Limerick rivals Castletroy College and today’s victory sends Ardscoil to the top of the group two table. They will play their final group game against Ballincollig on Wednesday, November 20.
The Limerick school got action started in Burgess with Clare minor Michael Collins get his first score of the game after receiving a fabulous ball from captain Jack Cosgrove after just 48 seconds.
Collins was on fire in the opening minutes of the game with Ardscoil’s half-forwards linking up well to put them two points ahead. This linking play was complimented at the other end of the pitch with Templemore finding it difficult to get through the Ardscoul defence.
After assisting his fellow teammate in the previous play, Sean Arthur got his name on the scoreboard with a fabulous strike from the half-way line, to keep the early lead for the Limerick secondary school.
Niall Crowe’s charges continued to press on with Collins, once again, finding space on the wing to send over a lovely point to put them 0-4 to 0-0 ahead after five minutes of play.
Sean Arthur backed up his opening score with another huge strike off his right hand-side from the 45′ yard line to keep the scoreboard ticking over.
Ardscoil looked extremely dominant as Templemore continued to turn over the ball easily against the Limerick defence with both Ian O’Brien, Oisin O’Byrne and Michael Collins adding three more points from play to race to a 0-8 lead in the first 15 minutes of the encounter.

Templemore finally got their first score of the game with Philip O’Dwyer steading the ship and firing over their first point from play on 16 minutes.
Ardscoil were caught over carrying gifting a free to the Tipperary side in which goalie Cormac Bourke made no mistake with to add their second point of the game.
This point for Templemore was cancelled almost immediately as Oisin O’Byrne went on another striking run, sending over his second point of the game.
The Tipperary schools midfielder Padraic O’Shea sent over his first free of the contest to leave it 0-9 to 0-3 in the Limerick sides favour after 20 minutes.
An incredible nine of Ardscoil’s ten points in the opening 20 minutes were scored from play as Patrick Kearney sent over their first free of the game on 22 minutes.
Templemore responded well to this score as their gathered puck-out through Philip O’Dwyer, who passed the ball neatly to Eoin Boyle to send their fourth point over the bar. This score was doubled with O’Shea sending over another free for his side.
These two points were almost outdone as Adare senior hurler Darragh Gleeson sent over a scintillating score from 55 meters out, backed up with another fabulous point from play through Collins.
Jack Marnell sent over the Tipperary schools last point of the game as Ardscoil Rís finished off the half strongly with two more points from Patrick Kearney and Eoin Brosnan ending the half, 0-14 to 0-6.
Scoring seemed to come easily to the Limerick secondary school with many of their players able to find space amongst the Templemore defence.
Templemore were not deterred by the deficit with midfielder Padraic O’Shea bringing the side to within five-points at one stage as he fired over five frees during the second-half.
Ardscoil weathered this storm well and came out fighting in the closing minutes of the contest with Michael Collins, Sean Arthy and Eoin Begley all contributing to the scoreboard.
All of the Limerick teams scores in the second-half came from play, showing the attacking form and ability throughout the game. This aggression and drive for scores left Ardscoil Rís with the comprehensive victory on a scoreline of 0-24 to 0-16.
