Pallasgreen GAA Club Notes:

Junior A Ladies Football Final:
In a heart-wrenching conclusion to an unforgettable county final, the Pallasgreen junior girls football team displayed remarkable spirit and determination against a formidable Monaleen side. The relentless conditions brought on by Storm Ashley posed a different challenge, yet both teams adapted brilliantly, proving that determination and grit can shine even in the toughest circumstances. From the very first whistle, the magnificent support from the Pallasgreen crowd, especially the younger fans, echoed around the well-appointed Cappamore pitch. Their cheers lifted the girls’ tenacity, spurring them on with every kick. Though Monaleen initially seized the momentum, racing into a two-point lead, Pallas girls demonstrated their fighting spirit. With a clever point from Caoimhe Butler and a stunning goal from Aine Looby, they turned the tide, seizing a lead they held for most of the match. The first half ended with Pallas ahead, 1-2 to Monaleen’s 0-3. As the second half unfolded, the stakes intensified. Points from Ava Hourigan and Cliodhna Ryan seemed to put Pallas in control, extending their lead to 1-4 to 0-3. However, Monaleen fought back fiercely, showcasing their resolve and making the game a nail-biting affair with the scoreline deadlocked 1-4 to 0-7. As the clock ticked down, both teams battled valiantly, each possession more vital than the last. Pallas had the majority of the ball, but Monaleen’s defence proved tough to penetrate. In a cruel twist of fate, with time almost up, an attack from Pallas was thwarted, and Monaleen capitalized, racing down the field to score a goal, with no time to recover, the referee blew the final whistle on the kick out. The scoreboard read 1-7 to 1-4. This was a match defined not just by the final score, but by the courage, resilience, and huge commitment displayed by the girls. Their performance, filled with moments of brilliance deserves to be celebrated and commended on reaching two county finals in succession. While it’s natural to feel the sting of defeat, the honour and pride they brought to their club cannot be overlooked. Special mention must go to Kaelin Ryan, whose skill and tenacity earned her the title of Player of the Match, a well-deserved recognition of her outstanding contribution.
