ADARE defeated Galtee Gaels 0-10 to 0-1 in the Limerick senior football championship quarter-final on Sunday afternoon in Kilmallock.
Conditions proved to be difficult for both sides but Adare showed all the experience in the end to cruise to a nine point victory.
The wind and rain made it difficult for both sides to play football in the opening period. Both sides held onto the ball in the opening quarter.
Adare were first to get off the mark when Hugh Bourke made no mistake from a placed ball on 16 minutes. Bourke added another placed ball to put Adare 0-2 to 0-0 ahead on 22 minutes.
Galtee Gaels were finding it difficult to get scores. Galtee Gaels squeezed the Adare kickout and the Gaels won the breaking ball. Tommie Childs punched the ball in the direction of wing back Patrick English. English tapped over a neat point to leave the minimium between the sides.
Adare led 0-2 to 0-1 at the break.
Harry Glesson’s charges made full advantage of the breeze in the second half. Robbie Bourke landed a tremendous effort from the sideline on 35 minutes. Ronan Connolly, Paul Maher and Davy Lyons all got on the end of Adare attacking moves to put their side 0-6 to 0-1 ahead.
Last year’s county finalists were totally in control. Galtee Gaels were struggling to get their hands on the ball.
