Ahane GAA Club Notes:
Brian Butler Cup:
We played Caherline in the Brian Butler Cup in Caherconlish on Sunday evening. A close contest where the sides were level on ten times throughout the sixty minutes. Kevin Morrissey but in a man of the match performance where he ended the game with 1-11. Caherline hit their purple patch in the final fifteen minutes where they hit 1-05 and we left it too late to stage a comeback. The lads put in a strong solid performance but Caherline where just the stronger side on the day.
Cúl Camp 2023:
Ahane Cúl Camp saw 213 children develop their skills in hurling and Gaelic football in Mackey Park this week! Great fun was had and many thanks to Peter Nash and his team of coaches who were fantastic in encouraging the kids. Unfortunately torrential rain meant the last day of camp had to be cancelled…but we did manage to get a group photo on Thursday! Many thanks to the cúl camp Co-ordinator Susan Kelly for her trojan work and thanks too to secretary Ann Ryan Carey and all the parents who volunteered to help with registration and supervise lunchtime and the car park. Cúl camp cannot happen without volunteers and it’s really appreciated. Finally, we hope the kids enjoy the rest of the summer and the very best of luck to Ahane’s Dan and Tom Morrissey, Ciarán Barry and all the Limerick senior hurling team, panel, management and back room team in the All Ireland Hurling final Sunday week. Luimneach abú!
U8 Hurling:
Well done to our u8 hurlers who travelled to Bruff GAA or 3 games on Wednesday evening. Most of these lads were at cúl camp on Wednesday so it there was real dedication on show!
Thanks to our hosts for the ice cream treat #raisingthebar (on and off the field)
Limerick Hurlers:
We are wishing Tom, Dan, Ciarán and the Limerick Senior hurlers the very best of luck on Sunday in the All Ireland against Kilkenny! We are so proud of the three lads and we are behind them all the way!
