Scór
Garryspillane GAA has a proud tradition down through the years in the Scór competition. This year, the club is trying to rejuvenate the Scór competitions in the club and give all interested the opportunity to take part in it from our parish.
There are three age categories in Scór:
-Scór na bpaistí(primary school children)
-Scór na nÓg(u17)
-Scór Sinsir(over 17)
There are many different competitions in Scór that people can enter. These include:
-Ceilí Dancing
-Solo Singing
-Recitation or story telling
-Instrumental music
-Set Dancing
-Table Quiz
*Please note that for all music competitions, the music must be Irish songs or tunes.
Scór na bpaistí and Scór na nÓg competitions are starting in March, while Scór Sinsir is taking place in May. While we appreciate that it may be short notice for the competitions in March, we would appreciate if anyone interested in competing in the Scór na bpaistí or Scór na nÓg would contact Corona (0879521906) or Gearóid (0879758854) before next Fri 18th. If you have any queries or questions, please feel free to contact us also. We hope there will be some interest this year, and that we can build on it for future years and future generations. It would be a great experience or opportunity, especially for the youth of our parish.
Development/Funding
The Club were delighted to have secured funding in the amount of €116,867 from the sports capital programme, of the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media last week. We extend our gratitude for the Departments continued support. We also would like to thank Minister for Sport Jack Chambers for the funding received, and thank Minister Patrick O Donovan for his support through the application process. This grant will be used to continue the further development of our facilities. The impact of this funding on our small rural club will make a huge difference. Our members will benefit hugely from this for many years to come. We would also like to thank the hard-working committee on securing this funding.
Congratulations
Well done to Paddy Kennedy, Kieran Hickey and John Kiely and The Abbey School on their recent victory over Roscarberry in the Munster football final.
