COVID-19: We remain in Level 5 restrictions and must comply wholeheartedly with the restrictions in spirit and in practice. We thank everyone for their compliance in this regard. CLUB LOTTO: At this time of the year you usually have our hard working lotto volunteers knocking on everyone’s door in the parish for the GAA Clubs biggest fundraiser, The Club Lotto. Due to Covid 19 restrictions this will not be possible this year. However, we will be in contact with our members to try to organise an online option, a drop-off option or a collection option. Please expect a message from your collector to organise what best suits you. We understand that this is a difficult time for everyone and if you are unable to support us this year just let your collector know by message. If you are able to support us please understand this is what runs Monaleen GAA Club from U6s to Seniors and we are very grateful for your support.

OPERATION TRANSFORMATION 5K: The Operation Transformation 5K in association with Athletics Ireland and Sport Ireland is back! On this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the 18th 19th and 20th of February, we are inviting you to take part this year by participating in a VIRTUAL OT 5K. GAA MUSEUM VIRTUAL BOOK CLUB: While it’s not possible to visit the GAA Museum or its Library & Archives in person right now, you can still learn more about Gaelic Games and the history of the Association by becoming a member of their new virtual GAA Museum Book Club. Each month the GAA Museum team will choose a well-known GAA book to read and review. At the end of the month, the museum will host a free online interview with the author, in which members can submit questions and comments. The ambition of the book club is to review some of the great GAA books and to give us all a much-needed sporting boost as we stay at home. IRISH LIFE STEPSs CHALLENGE: Well done to everyone who is taking part and has been involved with achieving an amazing 2.3million steps to date. An incredible 25,000 walkers representing 616 GAA clubs have been traversing every inch of their 5km radius in an attempt to win for their club one of the €2,500, €1,500, and €1,000 O’Neill’s gift vouchers up for grabs in each province with thanks to Irish Life. Any club that registers on the App and whose team records at least 4,000km – the equivalent of walking around the coast of Ireland – is in with a chance to win. The competition will run until March 3rd: GAA & Irish Life’s MyLife App ‘Healthy Club Steps Challenge’ a big hit.

LOTTO: The latest Lotto draw took place on Thursday, February 11 with the jackpot standing at €20,000. The numbers drawn were 2, 6, 30 and 32. Winners of the €50 lucky dips were P/C Cullen, Beechwood; E. Kavanagh, Bloomfield; P/J Costello, Bloomfield. Thank you for your continued support.
ALL-STARS: The 2020 All Star Awards will take place this Saturday February 20 on RTE 1 TV at 6.35pm. The event will feature a mixture of studio and online interviews. This year, there are 14 Limerick senior hurlers nominated for awards, while Iain Corbett has been short-listed for a football All-Star. Limerick’s Gearoid Hegarty has made the shortlist for Hurler of the Year along with Tony Kelly and Stephen Bennett. The All-Star Football team will be announced on Friday morning. On Saturday evening the Hurling All Stars will be revealed as will the Hurler, Footballer and Young Player of the Year. We look forward to these announcements and wish the Limerick players the best of luck.
