On this Sunday 13th. December, Limerick will be bidding to win their ninth All Ireland Senior Hurling Title, we take back at the previous winning finals. (1936 and 1940)
Limerick were back in the All Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Final for the fourth year in a row, in 1936, when they met Kilkenny for the second year in row and their third final meeting in four years. It was the Mick Mackey captained Limerick that proved best in Croke Park on 6th. September to annex their fifth All Ireland Senior Hurling Championship title

1940 saw Limerick back in Croke Park for an All Ireland Senior Hurling Championship final on 1st. September where reigning champions Kilkenny were once again providing the opposition, and Limerick repeated the form of four years previously to regain The Liam MacCarthy Cup, and win the sixth All Ireland title, once again captained by Mick Mackey, who lifted the Cup for a second time.
