U21’s Go Down Fighting in County B Semi Final

Kilteely Dromkeen 1-14 Killacolla Gaels 7-12 Goals win games and we conceded four within the first twenty minutes. However, our lads rallied extremely well and scored some fine points from Jamie McCarthy and Brian O’Grady. Brian added a superb goal to leave the half time score 1-10 to 4-4.

The first 10 minutes of the second half were nip and tuck but the combination of having played the East final four days earlier and the strong breeze saw Killacolla add to their tally. Our lads never dropped the heads and kept going to the end

Team: J Franklin, E O’Dea, D Gleeson, C Lonergan, D Curtin, D Kenny, J Sheehan, D O’Connell, B O’Grady, R Holmes, J McCarthy, J Hayes, E Murphy, D Hannon, T Leamy McNamara. Sub D Holmes, C Hannon

Many thanks to the management team of Tommy Kenny, John Franklin and Francis Stokes, the highlight was our East Final victory against all the odds. Many of these players will play a major part in our Junior team in the coming years

Junior Hurlers Lose Narrowly in Opening League Game

Kilteely Dromkeen 1-14 Cappamore 1-17

This was our first outing of the year so there was bound to be a lot of rustiness as we took on Cappamore who had gone all the way to last year’s Junior B All Ireland final. Both teams traded early points but Cappamore soon showed a clean pair of heals and tacked over some excellent points followed by a goal. We rallied with points from David Murphy, Brian O’Grady, Shane O’Dea and frees from Paudie Ahern to trail 1.12 to 0.8 at the break.

We then hit our purple patch, Brian O’Grady added 3 excellent points and Christy O’Dea a goal to liven proceedings. Cappamore, always managed to stay 2 or 3 points ahead and that’s how it stayed to the end.

Team P Close, J Sheehan, D Murphy, D Holmes, D Gleeson, D Ahern (0-1 free) J Dalaigh, B O’Grady (0-5) J O Regan, R Holmes, D Murphy (0-3), C O’Dea (1-0), J Hayes, P Ahern (0-4 frees), S O’Dea (0-1). Subs F Stokes, E Murphy
