P.I.H.C Garryspillane 2-18 Bruff 1-15

Scoring bursts from the Bouncers at just the right time paid off as they beat an out-of-sorts Bruff on a sunny Saturday evening in Kilbreedy.

The first half may not have had the cut and thrust of championship hurling but, in the second half spell, the game took on a life of its own. The sliotar whizzed this way and that as the Bouncers raised their game several levels in a bid to gain the upper hand.

The game wasn’t delicately poised (Bruff had a eight-point lead at the break) but they needed to look sharp as the Bouncers finally got their game into gear and threatened to shake off their below-par first half performance.

The Bouncers pressed and pressed. After containing the Bruff attack, The Bouncers got their own into gear. Donie Ryan got them moving with a point, then two in lightning-quick time from the impressive Dylan O Shea and Gearoid Power. Even with 8 minutes left, the game looked to be out of the Bouncers reach. The Bouncers kept driving on until the end, moving in front courtesy of steady points from the impressive Michael Burke and Mark Quinlan to name a few and a late goal from Danny Hayes.

The Bruff side can look back on a sluggish second half performance as the key reason for their defeat.
