Croom GAA Club Notes

Official Opening-date for your diary:
The official opening of our new clubhouse, and floodlit training area will take place on Saturday November 3rd. The Liam McCarthy Cup will be there on the day. Further details to follow. All are welcome.

Intermediate Hurlers:
We played St. Patrick’s last Sunday in Croagh. We got off to a good start with 1.02 in the opening minutes, and were dominating the game when we seemed to lose our shape. It was a scrappy match, stop start, with lots of frees and injuries, particularly in the second half. It was nip and tuck until the last 10 minutes when Gearoid Hegarty got his second goal, in a man of the match performance. We clawed it back to 2 points and hit the cross bar with a rasper of a shot near the end but it wasn’t to be and the team are disappointed in their performance. Final score 2.21 to 3.16. Nevertheless we still qualify for at least a quarter final and if we beat Dromin/Athlacca in two weeks we top the group on head to head and progress directly to the semifinal.

U13 Hurlers:
Our U13 Hurlers were the toast of Croom at the weekend bringing home the first silverware of the year. They played Glenroe in the 13 a side final in Ballyagran last Sunday. In a dominant display, Croom ran out winners by 5.08 to 2.01. The lads brought the cup home and paraded it around the town to joyous scenes. Well done to the team and all involved.

U8 Blitz:
Our U8 Hurlers played in the County Blitz in Mick Neville Park last Saturday morning. We played 3 games beating Cois Loi Gaels, but losing out to Feoghanagh/Castlemahon and Granagh/Ballingarry. Well done to all the players and all involved. We have another match against Banaogue this Wednesday 12th along with the U6s.

We play Ballybricken in Rd 4 of the Junior A Football C’ship this Sunday at 12 noon in Fedamore.
