Senior Hurling.

Our Senior Hurlers faced our Eastern RIvals, Ahane, in the penultimate group game of the 2018 Limerick Senior Hurling Championship in Cappamore last Sunday. Playing with the aid of the freshening breeze Liberties started well and went in at the break leading by 6 points, 0:11 to 0:05. Ahane started the 2nd half in lively fashion by rattling over the first 4 points of the half and we soon had a real contest. With 5 minutes to goLiberties found themselves one point in arrears but then came the decisive score of the game. Great work by Shane Garry would see his superb pass collected and crashed to net by Brian Garry. Liberties saw out the 6 minutes of injury time with resolute defense and ran out winners by 1:15 to 0:15.

This was a great response to last week’s defeat to Monaleen. Liberties now top their group and victory in the last group game against Cappamore will guarantee a place in the last 6 of this year’s County Championship.

Family Fun Day

The annual South Liberties Family Fun Day took place on Saturday in Dooley Park between 2pm and 6pm. Despite the threat of rain the day turned out to be a wonderful occasion with local hero Barry Nash and a certain Liam McCarthy ensuring that it was a day to live long in the memory.

Huge congratulations and thanks are due to the hard working committee who did trojan work to organise what is now a hugely anticipated annual event.
