Hospital Herbertstown GAA Club Notes
IHC: The Intermediate hurlers were defeated by Drom Broadford in Round 4 of the IHC Group 2 in Ballyagran on Sunday afternoon. On a warm day, both teams started evenly with 0-2 apiece after the opening few minutes. However, from there, Drom Broadford pushed ahead, aided by the wind at their backs in the opening half. Drom Broadford tacked on several points to open up a 7-point lead heading in at the break. Hospital Herbertstown came out in the second half knowing that taking something from this game would be a massive help to avoid the threat of relegation to Junior Hurling. A strong start to the second half saw Hospital Herbertstown start to get on top. A goal from Michael Whelan, and points from the likes of Conor O’Grady and Mark Deegan, reduced the deficit to 3 points heading into the final five minutes. However, while Hospital Herbertstown dominated much of the play approaching the final whistle, Drom Broadford recorded a goal of their own to push it out of our reach. A 7-point loss means that the lads head into the final round game against St Pat’s needing a win to avoid a relegation final. Final Score: Hospital Herbertstown 1-12, Drom Broadford 1-19.
