Club Limerick Dublin Notes:

Annual Mass:

A large crowd of members and friends attended the Annual Mass for deceased family and friends at the Goat Grill on Friday night. Sincere appreciation to Fr. Paddy Kelly for officiating and to John Keating for his usual meticulous organisation. Club Limerick is most grateful to Oliver Mann, Co. Chair, Mike O’Riordan, Sean Scanlon and Liam Burke from the County Board for their presence. Club Chair Paul Stapleton paid particular tribute to Oliver Mann for his great service over his 5 years as chairman of the County Board and for his repeated visits to club Limerick events in Dublin over that period. Thanks also to musicians Gerry Quinn and Jimmy and Carrie Keane.

Sheehy Memorial:

A memorial headstone has been erected over the graves of the Sheehy Brothers at Glasnevin Cemetery – Fr. Eugene and David from Broadford. The Sheehy brothers and other family members were active in many elements of the Irish independence movement including the Land League, Irish Parliamentary Party, 1916, Suffragette struggle and related activities. However no headstone was ever erected over their graves. Thanks to the initiative of John O’Sullivan, this joint project between the Sheehy Family and Club Limerick Dublin has corrected that omission. An official unveiling is scheduled for Saturday 2 December 2017 at 14.00 in Glasnevin Cemetery.

Congratulations:

Congratulations to Johnny Quilty of the Goat Bar and Grill on being named Pub Personality of the Year in the inaugural Irish Pub Awards.

Club Championships:

Best of luck to Na Piarsaigh in the AIB Munster hurling final against Ballygunner in Thurles and Galtee Gaels who travel to Kerry to take on Dromid Pearses in the Munster Junior club semi final both games on Sunday next. Hard luck to Adare senior football team.

Christmas Party:

The annual Christmas party will take place in the Red Cow Moran Hotel on Thursday 14 December. The event will honour the U21 hurling team which won the All-Ireland title and will include the Christmas Draw. Tickets for draw now available from members. Club Limerick Dublin acknowledges the sponsorship support from Charlie Chawke and Tom Moran of the Red Cow Moran Hotel. An open welcome to everyone.

Golf Classic 2018:

Director of Golf Tom Cotter has already made plans for 2018 when the 23rd Club Limerick (Dublin) Golf Classic will take place at the Edmondstown Golf club.
