On Sunday last, Limerick Hurlers continued their good run in the 2020 Leagues to date, scoring their fifth win on the trot, it was an early start to the year, which in fact started on Friday 20th. December with a Co-Op Superstores Munster Hurling League win over Tipperary in LIT Gaelic Grounds, this was followed by a trip to Sixmilebridge on Sunday 5th. January and another victory recorded defeating Clare in Munster Hurling League, to give Limerick a place in the Final on the following Saturday evening 11th. January in LIT Gaelic Grounds as part of a Double Header, which saw Cork provide the opposition and once again victory went to Limerick to regain the Munster Hurling League title which they also won in 2018.

The Allianz Hurling League commenced on Saturday 25th. January when it was the clash of Champions in Semple Stadium, All Ireland Hurling Champions Tipperary and Allianz Hurling Champions met in front of an attendance of 11,867, and it was Limerick that got their Allianz Hurling League Campaign off to a great start with a well merited win. On Sunday 2nd. February, Galway were visitors to LIT Gaelic Grounds in a repeat of the All Ireland Final of 2018, once again it was Limerick that continued their good run and scored a well deserved victory.

After the game Limerick players showed the respect they have for their young supporters when they went to sideline to sign autographs and have photographs taken. This shows how much Limerick Hurling has been so positive over the past number of years for all age groups. It took time and vision over the years to bring Limerick to be one of the big names in contention for the Liam MacCarthy Cup.

Fair play to these players and all involved who give of their time and effort to bring a smile to the faces of the young children to make them believe that one day it could be their dream to wear the Green Jersey of Limerick.
