Junior ‘B’ Football Championship commences this Tuesday evening

On this Tuesday evening 18th. August, the South Junior ‘B’ Football Championship gets underway with two games down for decision, neighbours Galbally and Galtee Gaels will meet in Galbally while Ballylanders entertain Banogue in Ballylanders, both games have a 7pm throw in

Congratulations are extended to Cois Laoi Gaels who won the County Under 21 ‘B’ Hurling Championship Final on Wednesday evening last 12th. August defeating Ballybricken/Bohermore-Fedamore in Kilmallock , Hard Luck to Bruff who lost out to Adare in the County Under 21 ‘A’ Hurling Championship Final in Mick Neville Park 7pm, also Hard Luck to to Garryspillane in the Mint Catering Premier Under 21 Hurling Championship Semi Final when they lost out to Doon in Bruff

How the South teams fared in Round 1 County Football Championship last weekend

Unfortunately it was not a great weekend on the playing fields in Round 1 County Football Championship for teams from the South Division. There were five teams in action over the weekend, Pride of place must go to Galbally obn their well earned win over St Kierans in Kilmallock on Sunday eveining scoring a two pint win 2.07 to 0.11. in the Irish Wire Products Senior Football Championship, Galtee Gael’ s were also in action on Sunday evening, making their comeback into the Senior grade, they met Oola in Hospital and despite a very good start they lost out by 2.15 to 0.11. Meanwhile in the the Woodlands House Hotel Junior Championship, there were three teams from the South in action, Croom played out a draw with Fr Casey’s while both Hospital/Herbertstown and Bruree suffered defeats to Newcastlewest and Athea respectively, Round Two will be played this coming and the pick of the fixtures is a meeting of neighbours and rivals Ballylanders and Galtee Gaels in Kilfinane on Saturday evening.

Weekend Round 2 (involving South Division teams ) Fixtures

The meeting of Ballylanders and Galtee Gaels in the Senior Championship game on Saturday evening should top the bill,
while n the Intermedaite Championship Bruff play Glin in Feenagh on Saturday evening, in the Junior Championship, (Date/Time/Venue tbc) Croom play South Liberties, Bruree play Newcastlewest and Hospital/Herbertstown play Athea.
