Rathkeale GAA Club Notes:
RIP to our Club President – Michael Dillon:
Our deepest sympathies go out to the family of a great clubman, who wore the blue and white of Rathkeale with pride and served the club for many years with distinction, our President Mike Dillon, daughter Orla, sons Brian and Barry, daughters-in-law Madeleine and Jennifer, son-in-law John, grandchildren Derrick, Conor, Kerie, Eadaoin and Jane, and his three great-grandchildren. Disappointing Week for Rathkeale Hurlers:
Following two wins from the opening two matches, Rathkeale encountered a difficult few days last week. Ballybrown provided stiff opposition last Monday week, and were the overwhelming victors on a scoreline of 4-24 to 0-12 in Foynes. Last Thursday evening the boys were back in action, taking on Killeedy in Newcastle West. This was an improved performance, however Rathkeale were unfortunately defeated again on a scoreline of 0-17 to 0-13. These results mean that Rathkeale currently sit in 4th position in the group table with one remaining fixture, when they will take on Claughaun in what is now a must game to have any chance of qualifying for the knockout stages. Best of luck to all the lads and management in the fixture which is scheduled for the weekend of September 17th, with the venue and time to be confirmed.
Senior Footballers Gear Up for Mungret Fixture:
Best of luck to the Rathkeale Senior Footballers as they continue preparations for their remaining group fixture, when they take on Mungret St Pauls on Friday, September 11th at 7pm in Adare. A positive result would allow Rathkeale to advance to the Quarter Finals, as they currently sit in 2nd position on 5 points. Best of luck to all involved.
