Nora O’Connor RIP:
Rathkeale GAA Club would like to express our deepest sympathies to all the O’Connor family on the untimely passing of Nora O’Connor, beloved wife of James (Connie), loving mother to Sean, Ciara and Sarah. Everyone involved in the GAA knows that Connie is the heart and soul of our club and we are all there to support James, Sean, Ciara & Sarah at this tough time, may Nora rest in peace. Rathkeale and Adare Play Out Entertaining Draw:
Following two wins from the opening three matches, our senior footballers made the journey to Feenagh last week, when they took on Adare in another crucial championship game. Adare took an early lead, with 3 points to 1 recorded, however Rathkeale bounced back with first half points from Andrew White, Shanagher, Morrissey and Wilmott, leaving the score level with 6 points a piece at the half time interval. Adare took control of the game at the start of the second half, recording 1-02 without reply. Rathkeale replied with further points from White and Wilmott, with Morrissey then finding the net with a tight left foot finish. Both teams traded points for the last 10 minutes, with the game finishing as a draw on a scoreline of 1-13 apiece. The score now leaves Rathkeale in a strong position of 5 points, with more work still to be done to secure a position in the Quarter Finals, when they take on Mungret in their remaining group fixture, which is currently scheduled for the weekend of September 11th.
