Junior A Hurlers Continue Winning Start:
Well done to the Junior A Hurlers who made it two wins from their opening two matches in the Woodlands House Hotel County Junior A Hurling Championship. Following a good win in their opening match when they beat Garryspillane, Rathkeale played Monagea in Newcastle West and kicked on with another fine win. The first half was a close affair with Monagea leading at the interval on a scoreline of 1-06 to 0-06, however Rathkeale drove on in the second half scoring 12 points, to win on a scoreline of 0-18 to 1-10. This result means that both Ballybrown and Rathkeale sit on top of the table with 4 points, with both sides scheduled to meet on the weekend kicking off on August 27th, date, time and venue to be confirmed. Well done to all involved and best of luck in the next fixture.
Senior Footballers Add Second Championship Win:
Our senior footballers made it two wins from their opening three games, following a 1st round win over Ballylanders, and a 2nd round defeat to Kildimo Pallaskenry. This was an important game for Rathkeale when they played Askeaton Ballysteen Kilcornan last Saturday in Newcastle West, with the boys in blue putting in another positive display, winning on a scoreline of 2-19 to 1-06, with both goals coming from Andrew Meade. Mungret St Pauls sit on top of the group with 6 points, while
Kildimo Pallaskenry and Rathkeale sit in 2nd and 3rd respectively with 4 points, with everything to play for still. Rathkeale’s next fixture is against Adare, currently scheduled for Saturday, August 22nd at 6.30pm in Feenagh. Best of luck to all the players and management involved.
