PATRICKSWELL GAA CLUB NOTES

UNDER 21 HURLERS: The U-21 hurlers were defeated by Doon in the opening match of the Premier Championship. The East Men raced into a two-point lead before Jason Gillane registered the ‘Well’s first point of the match. Doon went 0-3 to 0-1 ahead, but Clive Kirby and Jason Gillane equalised by the 11th minute. Doon nudged ahead with two consecutive points, although Calvin Carroll trimmed the deficit with a point. Unfortunately, Patrickswell were knocked off course when Doon struck one goal and two points in a five-minute purple patch. The scoreline was 1-7 to 0-4 on the twenty minute mark. Jason Gillane halted the surge with a point, but our opponents notched three straight points to lead by 1-10 to 0-5. Clive Kirby claimed the last point of the first half.

The second half began with another push by Doon. They scored three more points to lead by ten points at 1-13 to 0-6. Clive Kirby and Jason Gillane (0-2) reverted the arrears to seven points. However, Doon put the match beyond reach with a salvo of four consecutive points. With ten minutes left, Patrickswell trailed by 1-17 to 0-9. The match ended with a Jason Gillane consolation goal and a final Doon point. The result was 1-18 to 1-9.

Patrickswell will face Kilmallock at 3pm on Sunday February 16 in Rathkeale.

CLUB LOTTO: Lotto results for the week ending Monday February 3 were as follows. The numbers drawn were 2, 3, 8 and 27. The Bonus was 4. The Lucky Dips were €100 for Majella Bennis, €50 for Michael Woulfe and €20 each for W. Smith, John and Josephine Quinn, Maureen Murray, Kathleen Browne and Jackie Carroll. The next draw on Monday February 10 will be held in De Bucket. The jackpot is €3,800.
