All Ireland Cups Visit Pallasgreen:
Last Saturday evening, August 22nd, in beautiful autumn sunshine, three shining visitors arrived at the astro pitch of Pallasgreen GAA Club. Waiting to greet them was an excited green-clad horde of young players, along with proud parents, supporters and club members. The three very special visitors were none other than the Liam MacCarthy Cup, the Irish Press Cup and the All-Ireland Poc Fada Cup. Instrumental in bringing these national treasures to Pallasgreen were two of the club’s own, Colin Ryan and Daire Long. Pallasgreen GAA Club is incredibly proud of Colin and Daire, who both featured with their respective teams during this year’s All-Ireland campaigns. Their achievements have brought great pride to the club and provided wonderful inspiration for the next generation of Pallasgreen players. The scene was beautifully set as Colin and Daire, accompanied by the prestigious trophies, were transported onto the pitch by jeep. The procession made its way towards the stage, which was positioned proudly in front of the club’s enormous crest. Proceedings were officially opened by Trevor Anderson of 95FM, who welcomed the players, their families and the large crowd gathered for the special occasion. Club Chairman Aidan Foley spoke with great pride about Colin and Daire, recognising their achievements and the example they set for the young players of Pallasgreen. He expressed the hope that their success would inspire the next generation to dream big, work hard and follow in their footsteps. Adding greatly to the atmosphere was the fantastic Martyn Cosgrave, who entertained the crowd with an excellent selection of music. A particular highlight was his performance of his own Limerick anthem, The Treaty Will Rise, which had the crowd singing along and added to the sense of pride and celebration. It was a wonderful evening filled with celebration, photographs, laughter and memories. Thanks also to local photographer Mike Riordan for covering the event for the Limerick Leader. Young and old had the opportunity to see some of the most coveted trophies in Irish hurling up close and, more importantly, to celebrate the remarkable achievements of the club’s two players.
A huge well done and sincere thanks to everyone involved in organising such a memorable occasion.
Intermediate Football Championship:
The intermediate footballers are still waiting for their win in the 2026 campaign following their latest defeat by Cappagh in St Patrick’s GAA Grounds last Sunday afternoon. On a sun drenched day Pallas who had a much improved outing from the previous outing but still came up short on a scoreline of 2-15 to 1-8.
Minor Hurling:
Well done to the minor hurlers who had a fantastic win over Blackrock in the County B Championship semi final at Hospital last week. In a tough and exciting encounter Pallas came out on top by 1-18 to 1-15. We wish them and the management the very best of luck in the final. U16 Limerick Acadmey:
Congratulations to Sean McNamara and Noah Deere, who were members of the Limerick U16 team that recently reached the Eugene Carey National Shield Final in Kilkenny.
The Limerick side put in a fantastic campaign to earn their place in the decider, but unfortunately, their journey ended in disappointment as they were beaten by the host county in the final. Despite the result, reaching a national final is a fantastic achievement and one that Sean and Noah can be extremely proud of.
Everyone at the club would like to congratulate both Sean and Noah on their achievement and wish them continued success in the future.
Club Glof Classic:
Pallasgreen GAA Club would like to extend its sincere thanks and appreciation to everyone who supported, sponsored and took part in the annual Golf Classic, held last weekend at Ballykisteen Golf Club.
Despite the unpredictable Irish weather, the event proved to be one to savour, with golfers enjoying a fantastic day of good and enjoyable golf on a course that was presented in magnificent condition.
The club is indebted to all of our generous sponsors, whose support made it possible to hold such a successful occasion. Their continued generosity and commitment to Pallasgreen GAA are greatly appreciated.
Alongside the Golf Classic, a grand raffle was held for the fantastic prize of a signed Limerick jersey. The raffle proved extremely popular and was very well supported. A special word of thanks goes to everyone who helped organise the raffle and to all those who sold and purchased tickets for this wonderful prize.
The club would also like to thank most sincerely the Committee of the Old Pallas Graveyard, who kindly loaned their gazebo. It greatly enhanced the starting area at the first tee and was a very welcome addition to the event.
With teams heading out on Thursday evening and throughout Friday, everyone was warmly welcomed to Ballykisteen Golf Club. Following their rounds, golfers were treated to a lovely meal in the clubhouse, providing a fitting end to an enjoyable day on the course. A massive congratulations and thank you to the Golf Classic organising committee and to everyone who helped in any way, both before and during the event. It was a tremendous team effort, and the success of the weekend is a credit to everyone involved. Pallasgreen GAA Club sincerely appreciates the support of the local community, sponsors, golfers, volunteers and everyone who contributed to making the annual Golf Classic such a wonderful success. All proceeds of the event will go to the upcoming club development which will start in early 2027. We look forward to welcoming everyone back again next year.
