Colin Ryan Wins Third Poc Fada Title:
Everyone in Pallasgreen GAA extends heartfelt congratulations to Colin Ryan on winning his third M. Donnelly All-Ireland Poc Fada title on Annaverna Mountain in the Cooley Peninsula, County Louth, on the August Bank Holiday Monday. Colin produced another outstanding performance to reclaim the prestigious title, his first since 2021. Having also finished runner-up on three occasions, his consistency and excellence in one of hurling’s most unique and demanding competitions are a testament to his remarkable skill and dedication. The victory caps another memorable year for Colin, who only a few weeks earlier played his part in helping Limerick capture the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship with victory over Galway at Croke Park.This latest success further enhances Colin’s outstanding playing career and cements his status as Pallasgreen’s most decorated GAA player. His remarkable list of honours now includes: Three M. Donnelly All-Ireland Poc Fada titles, Two All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship medals, Two Munster Senior Hurling Championship medals, Two National Hurling League medals, One All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling Championship medal. Colin continues to be a wonderful ambassador for both Pallasgreen GAA and Limerick hurling. His achievements are a source of immense pride for the club and the wider community, and everyone in Pallasgreen congratulates him on this latest milestone and wishes him continued success in the years ahead

Intermediate Hurling Championship:
A workmanlike display saw Pallas claim their second consecutive victory in Group 1 of the County Intermediate Hurling Championship with a hard-earned 1-17 to 1-12 win over St Kieran’s in Mungret on Friday evening. Played in glorious sunshine, Pallas were made to battle every inch of the way by a determined St Kieran’s side. Unlike their previous outing, Pallas struggled to find any real rhythm in the opening half and found themselves trailing 0-9 to 0-7 at the interval. St Kieran’s extended their advantage shortly after the restart, but Pallas didn’t panic and gradually, they began to impose themselves with some excellent passages of hurling, and the rewards eventually came as they drew level with 15 minutes remaining. From there, Pallas took control. They edged two points in front before the game’s decisive moment arrived. A speculative effort from David Murphy deceived the St Kieran’s goalkeeper and found the net, leaving Pallas five points clear and firmly in the driving seat. However, there was one final twist. From the resulting puck-out, St Kieran’s won a penalty and converted it to reduce the deficit, setting up a tense finish. Credit to Pallas, though, as they responded in the best possible fashion, adding a number of late points to extinguish any hopes of a comeback. It was a deserved victory for Pallas, who showed great character to overcome a resilient opponent and secure back-to-back championship wins. The final score of 1-17 to 1-12 keeps their championship campaign firmly on track.

Ladies Football:
Pallas ladies got their Junior football championship campaign off to an impressive start last Sunday morning with a convincing victory over Athea in Pallas. Played in wonderful summer conditions on firm ground, Pallas made an excellent start and dominated proceedings during the opening half. Their attacking play was rewarded on the scoreboard as they built up a commanding 1-10 to 0-3 lead by half-time. Athea came out with renewed determination after the interval and the second half was a much more competitive affair. The westerners showed greater attacking intent and enjoyed a greater share of possession as they looked to reduce the sizeable deficit. However, the damage had already been done in the opening half and Pallas continued to find scores when opportunities presented themselves. They finished strongly, adding a further two goals to complete a comprehensive victory. When the final whistle sounded, Pallas had run out winners on a scoreline of 3-12 to 0-10, making a positive start to their Junior Championship campaign. JB Hurling Championship:
The JB Hurlers played Bruff in the second round of the Junior B championship last Sunday evening in Kilteely. Bruff looked stronger throughout and led at the break by 0-4 to 0-11. The second half Pallas showed plenty of character and came more into the game, but the strength of the Bruff outfit saw them take the spoils on a scoreline of 2-17 to 1-11. Golf Classic:
Pallasgreen GAA Club is delighted to announce that its Annual Golf Classic will take place on Friday, 21st August, at the wonderful Ballykisteen Golf Club. As it does every year, the Golf Classic promises to be a fantastic day of golf and socialising for golfers, club members, supporters. The event has become a highlight of the club’s annual calendar, offering an enjoyable day on one of the region’s finest golf courses.
The entry fee is €200 per team of four, which includes a meal afterwards in the clubhouse, providing the opportunity to relax following the day’s golf.
