Intermediate Hurling Championship:
It may not have been a contest to satisfy the hurling purists, but Pallas can be well pleased after securing a hard-earned first-round victory over neighbours Cappamore in Group 1 of the Nick Greene County Hurling Championship. Played at the excellent Doon venue, the opening half was a scrappy affair with scores at a premium. Pallas held the upper hand for much of the period and deservedly led by 0-8 to 0-5 at the interval. The game came to life after the restart as both sides raised the intensity. Cappamore made the brighter start to the second half and looked to be taking control when they overturned the deficit to move 0-12 to 0-9 ahead with just ten minutes remaining. Pallas, however, responded in determined fashion. A monstrous free from Colin Ryan cut the gap to the minimum and proved to be the catalyst for a strong finish. Colm McMahon added a vital point before Padraig Phelan struck three crucial scores in succession to swing the momentum back in Pallas’ favour. David Murphy then added the insurance point to complete an impressive comeback as Pallas emerged 0-15 to 0-13 winners. While there is plenty to work on, Pallas will take confidence from their resilience and composure in the closing stages as they got their championship campaign off to a winning start.

Minor Hurling Championship:
Pallas booked their place in the Minor B hurling championship semi-finals after overcoming Dromcollogher/Broadford in a thrilling and high-scoring contest at Pallasgreen last week. With a semi-final berth on the line, both sides produced an entertaining game that kept spectators on their toes from start to finish. The standard of hurling was excellent throughout, with scores flowing freely as neither team was prepared to give an inch. Pallas enjoyed spells of excellent attacking play and built a useful advantage thanks to some fine point-taking and a well-worked goal. However, Dromcollogher/Broadford refused to go away and struck for three goals to ensure the contest remained in the balance right up to the final whistle. The closing stages were a nervous affair for the home supporters as Dromcollogher/Broadford launched one final push in search of victory. Pallas, however, showed tremendous determination and resilience in defence, digging deep when it mattered most to withstand the late pressure and secure a deserved 1-21 to 3-12 victory It was a tremendous team performance, with every player contributing to a win that keeps Pallas’ championship hopes alive. Junior B Hurling Championship:
It was a game to forget for the Junior B hurlers as their opponents Staker Wallace were too good on the night. Having dominated in most sectors, Pallas simply had no answer to last year’s beaten finalists who ran out comfortable winners at the end. Golf Classic:
Pallasgreen GAA Club is delighted to announce that its Annual Golf Classic will take place on Friday, 21st August, at the wonderful Ballykisteen Golf Club. As it does every year, the Golf Classic promises to be a fantastic day of golf and socialising for golfers, club members, supporters. The event has become a highlight of the club’s annual calendar, offering an enjoyable day on one of the region’s finest golf courses.
The entry fee is €200 per team of four, which includes a meal afterwards in the clubhouse, providing the opportunity to relax following the day’s golf.
