Old Christians GAA Club Notes:
GAA Refresher Packs:
It was a great day for the club in Dublin today, as members of our Executive and Development Committees met with senior GAA officials to collect our new GAA Sports Packs.
The visit provided a fantastic opportunity for the club’s leadership to engage directly with Uachtarán na CLG, Jarlath Burns, and Tony Reilly, Chairman of the Hurling Development Committee. These sports packs represent a valuable resource and will be put straight to use on the pitch, supporting the continued growth of both hurling and football within our community.
The club was proudly represented by a group dedicated to improving our facilities and coaching standards, namely Dick Butler, Gary Culbert, Phil Madden and Timmy Madden.
A definite highlight of the day was the opportunity to meet and chat with Kilkenny legend Brian Cody, further strengthening our links with the national Games Development Committee.
These sports packs are more than just equipment; they underline our commitment to providing the best possible environment for our members. This national initiative ensures grassroots clubs like ours have the tools needed to develop talent and encourage participation at all levels and ages.
A sincere thank you to Jarlath Burns and William Maher, Head of Hurling with the GAA, for their warm hospitality and continued support of club-level development.
Argentinian GAA Evening:
Old Christians GAA Club were delighted to spend Tuesday evening at the University of Limerick introducing a fantastic group of male and female students from Argentina to our national games. It was a memorable opportunity to share the skills, traditions and passion of both hurling and Gaelic football with such an enthusiastic group.
The session was full of energy and enjoyment, with the students fully embracing the fundamentals on the pitch. The atmosphere throughout was excellent, making it a truly special cultural exchange for everyone involved.
A sincere thank you to Jennifer O’Leary for the kind invitation to lead the session. We were honoured to represent the club and showcase Irish sporting traditions to such an engaged and receptive audience.
We would also like to thank Niall Deegan, Phil Madden, Brooke Madden and David Keating for giving their time, knowledge and expertise to coach the students. It was a superb evening from start to finish, and we look forward to linking up again very soon.
