Limerick Players:
Well done to the Limerick U16 Footballers who faced Cork in the final at Mick Neville Park on Saturday, 29 August 2026.
It was a closely fought contest from start to finish, with Cork holding a narrow 0-05 to 0-04 lead at half-time. The Limerick lads continued to battle bravely throughout the second half, but it was Cork who came out on top on a scoreline of Cork 0-12 Limerick 0-10
A fantastic performance from the Limerick team, who gave everything right to the final whistle. Unlucky to lose out by just two points, but they can be very proud of their efforts and the performance they produced throughout the year. Mungret St. Pauls are proud to have our own players, Mark Nelligan, Sean Casey, Padraig Ahern, Sammy Roche, Sam Newman and coach Timmy Hayes.
U14 Camogie:
Ours U14s travelled to Pallasgreen to take on the hosts on Thursday night in round 3 of the Treaty Championship. This young team, captained By Aisling Carroll dominated the match throughout and gave a great performance to win themselves a place in the county semi final v Patrickswell away on Sept 3rd, throw in 6:30pm. Best of luck girls!
U16 Camogie:
Hard luck to our U16 team who lost to a determined Killeedy in the county semi final at home on Tuesday. Led by Joint Captains Rosa Harrington and Saoirse Browne the girls battled till the very end, but unfortunately the visitors pulled away in the last 8mins. This team have given some great performances since the start of the championship. The future is bright!

Junior C Camogie:
Versus Granagh Ballingarry August 23rd in Ballingarry
Our Junior C camogie team kicked off their championship with a first round tie away to Granagh Ballingarry. Near perfect conditions saw an evenly matched contest. Both teams exchanged points early on before Mungret got a quick brace of goals to take the lead before Granagh Ballingarry responded to take a 2 point lead at half time.
Mungret continued to battle hard into the second half, showing grit in defence and matched with some lovely skill with well taken points throughout. Further goals were exchanged and Mungret were unlucky to not get their noses in front with Granagh Ballingary taking the spoils on the day. The match marked the first competitive outing of the year for a number of players returning from Leaving Cert and travel hiatuses and this match will really stand to them moving forward into the championship. Intermediate Camogie:
Round 2 v Galbally Camogie Club Fri 21st August in Mungret
Mungret St Paul’s Camogie made it two wins from two in the Intermediate Camogie Championship on Friday evening with a hard-fought victory over a physically determined Galbally side in Mungrets main field. This win places us in a great position to top the group and secures our place in the Cup semi-final, with our final group game against Blackrock-Effin set to decide who finishes top of the group. Mungret started strongly securing an early lead and kept the scoreboard ticking but a couple of lapses in concentration allowed Galbally take a 2-point lead into half time. MSP girls started the second half with real intent and built a lead with a well taken goal and points from play and frees. Galbally didnt go down without a fight and 2 goals saw them get right back into the contest. Mungret girls regained their composure to see out the game for a very significant 2point victory. Mungret showed great character when it mattered most and our never say die attitude coupled with a very effective team performance and commitment from the complete panel especially our leaving cert students who togged tonight saw us over the line. Congratulations to past player Tara Lyons, who has captained her Ladies Football team, Brisbane Souths GAA, to Championship glory in Brisbane!
It is a fantastic achievement for Tara and her teammates, ending a seven-year wait for the Championship and knocking John Mitchell’s off the top spot after they had won the title every year during that period. There is a fierce rivalry between the two clubs, making this victory all the more special! As well as captaining the team, Tara also serves as Secretary of Brisbane Souths GAA and Vice-Secretary of the Queensland Region — a fantastic commitment to the club both on and off the pitch. A huge well done to Tara and all her teammates on a brilliant achievement. There is a very proud family here in Mungret St. Pauls!
U16 Division 1 Hurling:
Mungret St. Pauls 3-16 Murroe-Boher 2-12
Mungret St. Pauls produced an excellent performance on Monday evening, 24 August 2026, securing a well-deserved victory over Murroe-Boher in the U16 Hurling Championship Division 1 at Mungret. The home side made the perfect start, finding the back of the net inside the opening minute to settle any early nerves. Murroe-Boher responded with three points in the opening seven minutes, but Mungret St. Pauls quickly regained control of the game with a series of well-taken scores. Four points helped Mungret St. Pauls establish their rhythm, before Murroe-Boher added two further points. Mungret St. Pauls then struck for their second goal, giving them a significant boost. Further points followed in the closing stages of the half as Mungret St. Pauls took control, adding six unanswered scores. At the interval, Mungret St. Pauls led 2-10 to 0-06, having played some excellent hurling and finishing the half strongly. Mungret St. Pauls continued where they left off after the restart, adding a point inside the opening minute. Murroe-Boher responded with a point, but Mungret St. Pauls continued to find the target with two more points.
The visitors then began to show their resilience, finding the net in the 5th minute before adding two further points to reduce the deficit. Mungret St. Pauls remained composed, however, and continued to work hard, exchanging scores with their opponents. A crucial moment arrived just going into the last quarter when Mungret St. Pauls found the Murroe-Boher net for the third time, providing some valuable breathing room as the visitors continued to battle.
Mungret St. Pauls added another point, but Murroe-Boher refused to give up and scored their second goal, followed by two further points in the closing minutes. Despite the late pressure, Mungret St. Pauls held firm to secure a 3-16 to 2-12 victory.
It was a strong all-round display from the Mungret St. Pauls U16s, particularly the excellent first-half performance which laid the foundations for the win. While Murroe-Boher fought back strongly after the break, Mungret St. Pauls showed great composure to manage the game and ensure the points stayed in Mungret. This win leaves the team in fourth place and currently in the running for the cup with two matches left to play. Well done to all the players and management on a fine performance and a deserved Championship victory.
U14 Division 4 Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 6-8 Na Piarsaigh 1-3
Mungret St. Pauls U14s put in an outstanding performance on Thursday evening, 27 August 2026, as they travelled to Caherdavin to take on Na Piarsaigh in the U14 Football Division 4.
From the throw-in, Mungret St. Pauls showed great energy, determination and teamwork, taking control of the contest and putting together some excellent passages of football.
The Mungret St. Pauls defence worked tirelessly throughout, limiting Na Piarsaigh’s opportunities while the forwards made the most of their chances in front of goal. The scoreboard reflected a strong attacking display, with Mungret St. Pauls finding the net on six occasions and adding eight points over the course of the game.
Na Piarsaigh battled throughout and registered a goal and three points, but Mungret St. Pauls maintained their intensity and discipline to see out a convincing victory.
The final score saw Mungret St. Pauls run out 6-8 to 1-3 winners, a fantastic result and reward for the hard work put in by the players. A brilliant team performance from start to finish, with every player contributing to a well-earned Division 4 victory. Congratulations to all the players and management on a superb night’s football. This was the last match for this team as they wait for the last matches to be played, they currently sit in fourth place on the table while waiting to see if the other results will change the position.
U16 Division 1&2 Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 2-12 Shannon Gaels1-02
Mungret St. Pauls U16 footballers produced an excellent second-half performance to secure a convincing victory over Shannon Gaels in Mungret on Thursday evening, 27 August 2026.
Played in extremely difficult conditions, with rain falling relentlessly throughout the game, both teams battled hard in what was a challenging evening for football. Shannon Gaels started brightly and opened the scoring after six minutes. Mungret St. Pauls responded with three points to take the lead, before Shannon Gaels added a further point. The visitors then struck for a goal with five minutes left on the clock, to move ahead, but Mungret St. Pauls responded with a point shortly afterwards to leave just one point between the sides at the break.
Half-time: Mungret St. Pauls 0-04, Shannon Gaels 1-02. Whatever was said at half-time certainly had the desired effect, as Mungret St. Pauls came out for the second half with renewed energy and determination. Just two minutes after the restart, Mungret St. Pauls found the back of the net to regain the lead. Two quick-fire points followed before another Mungret St. Pauls goal in the fifth minute put further daylight between the teams.From there, Mungret St. Pauls continued to control proceedings despite the persistent rain. The home side added six further points during the remainder of the half, with the team showing excellent teamwork, determination and composure in the testing conditions. Shannon Gaels were unable to add to their half-time total as Mungret St. Pauls’ strong second-half display saw them pull clear and finish with an impressive 2-12 to 1-02 victory. A superb effort from the entire Mungret St. Pauls squad, particularly given the relentless rain and difficult playing conditions. The players showed great character to turn a one-point half-time deficit into a comprehensive victory.
Well done to all the players and management on an excellent performance. With just two games played Mungret St. Pauls sit in fourth out of five places on the table.
Senior Hurling:
Mungret St. Pauls 2-20 Adare 2-16
Mungret St. Pauls produced a determined and composed performance in Clarina on Friday evening, 28 August 2026 to secure an important 2-20 to 2-16 victory over Adare in the Senior Hurling Championship.
Mungret St. Pauls made an excellent start, with Brian O’Meara opening the scoring inside the first minute. After Adare levelled, Killian Begley and Barry Duff added points before Mark O’Brien took centre stage, first pointing and then finding the back of the net in the 10th minute from a sideline cut.
Fintan Fitzgerald added another point before Adare responded with a goal. Mungret St. Pauls immediately hit back, however, with Liam Lynch finding the net a minute later to restore the advantage.
The first half continued at a lively pace, with both sides trading scores. Mark O’Brien and Brian O’Meara added further points for Mungret St. Pauls, while Barry Duff and Liam Lynch also got on the scoresheet. Adare kept in touch with a series of points, but Mungret St. Pauls’ attacking efficiency ensured they held a narrow advantage at the interval.
Half-time: Adare 1-08, Mungret St. Pauls 2-09.
Adare came out strongly after the break and added two quick points in the opening two minutes to reduce the deficit. Mungret St. Pauls responded in excellent fashion, with Fintan Fitzgerald pointing twice before Liam Lynch added two more scores.
Rory Duff and Mark O’Brien continued Mungret St. Pauls’ scoring run, giving the team some valuable breathing space. Adare refused to give up and gradually began to close the gap, but Mungret St. Pauls continued to find scores when needed.
Mark O’Brien added another point, while Niall Mulcahy and Liam Lynch kept the scoreboard ticking over. As the game entered its final stages, Adare struck for a second goal in the dying minute, setting up a tense finish.
With the lead reduced, Mungret St. Pauls showed great composure. Conor O’Halloran and Liam Lynch added crucial late points to ensure Adare’s late surge would not deny them victory.
When the final whistle sounded, Mungret St. PaulS had secured a hard-earned four-point victory, finishing on 2-20 to Adare’s 2-16.
It was a strong team performance from Mungret St. Pauls, with an impressive first-half attacking display followed by a disciplined and determined effort to withstand Adare’s second-half comeback. Congratulations to the players and management on an excellent championship victory having won their third match out of three played.
Intermediate Hurling:
Knockaderry 2-22 Mungret St. Pauls 0-13
Mungret St. Pauls faced a tough challenge against Knockaderry in the Intermediate Hurling Championship in Croagh on Saturday afternoon, 29 August 2026 with Knockaderry eventually coming away with a 2-22 to 0-13 victory.
Knockaderry made the brighter start, registering two early points inside the opening two minutes. Mungret St. Pauls settled into the game and got on the scoreboard in the fifth minute through Cillian O’Gorman. The opening half developed into an entertaining contest, with both sides exchanging scores. Daniel Larkin and Cillian O’Gorman kept the Mungret St. Pauls scoreboard moving, while further points from O’Gorman, Diarmaid Hynes, Conor Garvey and Seamus Hurley ensured Mungret St. Pauls remained firmly in contention.
Knockaderry continued to find scores, particularly from placed balls, but Mungret St. Pauls work rate kept them within touching distance. Conor Garvey added another point late in the half, leaving just two points between the sides at the interval. Half-time Knockaderry 0-10, Mungret St. Pauls 0-08.
Mungret St. Pauls began the second half positively, despite Knockaderry opening the scoring immediately after the restart. Conor Garvey and Mike Mullins responded with points before Cian O’Brien added another in the 12th minute.
Diarmaid Hynes also converted later in the half, but Knockaderry gradually began to take control of proceedings. The home side added a number of unanswered scores to open up a significant gap. Mungret St. Pauls continued to battle and Conor Garvey added his fourth point of the afternoon near the end of the second half. However, Knockaderry struck for their first goal moments later, further increasing their advantage. Knockaderry added another goal in the closing stages as they pulled clear, with the final scoreline ultimately reflecting a difficult second half for Mungret St. Pauls. Despite the result, there were plenty of positives to take from Mungret St. Pauls first-half display, where the team competed strongly and went into the break just two points behind. The players continued to work hard throughout the second half and never stopped battling. The focus will now turn to the next challenge, with the squad looking to build on the positives from the opening half. A third loss for this team as they prepare to take on Hospital Herbertstown next weekend.
