Limerick Players:
U-14 Academy Footballers played in Thurles on Saturday 22 August 2026 where they played Clare and Tipperary winning both matches. Well done to Mungret St. Pauls players Oisin O Callaghan, Paidi Mullins and Fionn Cummane with Ruadhan O hAnnaigh absent.
U-16 Academy Footballers played in Rathkeale on Saturday 22 August 2026, playing Clare with a full time score: Clare 2:10 to Limerick 0:11, and Kerry with a full time score of Limerick 1-14 Kerry 0-12. They finished second on score difference, and qualified to play last games next Saturday with no venue yet. Well done to all players especially our own players Mark Nelligan, Sean Casey, Padraig Ahern, Sammy Roche, Sam Newman and coach Timmy Hayes.
Limerick Masters played Tyrone in the Semi final on Saturday 22 August where they unfortunately lost, Well done to Mungret St. Pauls Breandan O’ hAnnaidh who is part of the panel.
Junior A Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 1-11 Cappamore 0-14
Mungret St. Pauls and Cappamore played out an entertaining draw in the Junior A Football Championship in Rathbane on Monday evening, 17 August 2026 with both sides finishing on 14 points.
It was a closely fought contest from the opening whistle, with little separating the teams throughout. Cappamore made the brighter start, registering the opening two scores inside the first eight minutes. Mungret St. Pauls responded well, with three unanswered points putting them in front. Cappamore quickly regained their composure, adding three points of their own before Mungret St. Pauls hit back with another three scores.
The exchanges continued to be evenly matched as both teams traded points before Cappamore edged ahead late in the half. At the interval, Cappamore led by a single point, 0-7 to 0-6. Mungret St. Pauls started the second half positively, levelling the game with an early point, but Cappamore responded with three points in quick succession to open up a narrow advantage. The decisive moment came in the 10th minute of the second half when Mungret St. Pauls found the back of the net, turning the game in their favour and giving them a valuable boost. Cappamore refused to let the goal unsettle them, responding with a point two minutes later. The sides continued to exchange scores in an intense final quarter, with neither team able to establish a decisive lead. Mungret St. Pauls added 4 more points, while Cappamore continued to find scores of their own. With the clock running down, Mungret St. Pauls pushed for the winning score, but Cappamore held firm to ensure the spoils were shared. The final whistle confirmed a hard-earned Mungret St. Pauls 1-11, Cappamore 0-14 draw. While both teams will feel they could have taken all three points, Mungret St. Pauls can take plenty of positives from a competitive performance against a strong Cappamore side. The team showed great resilience to recover from a half-time deficit and respond to Cappamore’s second-half spell with a crucial goal and some excellent scores.
A point apiece was a fair reflection of an exciting and closely contested Junior A Football Championship encounter.
U16 Football Division 3:
Mungret St. Pauls 3-5 Na Piarsaigh 5-5
The U16 Division 3 footballers were out on Monday evening, 17 August 2026, as they welcomed Na Piarsaigh to Mungret. It was a welcome opportunity for the lads to get some much-deserved game time, and they made the most of the occasion with a determined and competitive display. There was plenty of effort from the Mungret St. Pauls players throughout the game, with the team finding the net on three occasions and adding five points to their tally. Na Piarsaigh, however, managed to edge ahead on the scoreboard, eventually securing the win on a final score of Mungret St. Pauls 3-5, Na Piarsaigh 5-5. Despite the result, there were plenty of positives to take from the evening. The players showed great commitment, worked hard for each other and continued to battle right until the final whistle. A big well done to all the U16 players who lined out and to the coaches and everyone involved in getting the team on the pitch. These games provide valuable experience and development for the players as they continue their football journey with Mungret St. Pauls. We look forward to seeing plenty more progress from this group in the games ahead.
U16 Hurling Division 1:
Mungret St. Pauls 2-17 Doon 1-15
Our U16 Division 1 hurlers produced a strong second-half performance on Wednesday evening, 19 August 2026, to come away with a deserved five-point victory over Doon in Doon.
The opening half was an entertaining and closely fought affair, with both sides showing plenty of attacking intent. Doon got the first score of the game, but Mungret St. Pauls responded quickly before a well-taken goal in the fifth minute gave them an early boost. Doon continued to press and kept the scoreboard ticking over, while Mungret St. Pauls’ forwards were also finding their range. A particularly productive spell around the middle of the half saw Mungret St. Pauls register four points in succession, helping thtem stay firmly in contention.
Doon finished the half strongly, adding several scores in the closing stages, but Mungret St. Pauls responded with a point in the dying minute to leave the sides level at the break. Half-time: Doon 0-10, Mungret St. Pauls 1-07.
The second half saw Mungret St. Pauls really take control of the contest. Two early points settled the team into the half before Doon responded with a point and then a goal in the sixth minute to put pressure back on Mungret St. Pauls. The response from our lads was excellent. Mungret St. Pauls continued to work hard across the field, winning possession and creating scoring opportunities. 5 Points kept Mungret St. Pauls ahead, before a crucial second Mungret St. Pauls goal arrived into the final quarter. That goal gave Mungret St. Pauls a valuable cushion, and the team managed the remainder of the game impressively. Doon continued to battle and added scores in the closing stages, but Mungret St. Pauls maintained their composure and continued to add to their tally. A final point confirmed an excellent 2-17 to 1-15 victory for Mungret St. Pauls. This was a really positive performance from our U16 hurlers. Having been level at half-time, the lads showed great character and determination to step up their performance in the second half and secure the win. A big well done to all the players and management team on a fine team performance, particularly for the way the group responded to Doon’s second-half goal and finished the game strongly.
Senior Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 3-13 Kildimo-Pallaskenry 0-10
Mungret St. Pauls produced a superb second-half performance in Clarina on Friday evening, 21 August 2026 to secure an impressive 3-13 to 0-10 victory over Kildimo-Pallaskenry in the Senior Football Championship. Having trailed by a point at half-time, Mungret St. Pauls completely took control after the break, scoring three goals in a devastating 20-minute spell to turn a closely fought contest into a convincing victory. The opening half was a tight and competitive affair, with both sides trading scores. Mungret St. Pauls opened the scoring through Darragh Bridgeman after just two minutes, but Kildimo-Pallaskenry responded with three points before a superb two-pointer from Diarmaid Hynes brought Mungret St. Pauls back into the contest. Further scores from Hynes and Bridgeman, including another two-pointer, kept Mungret St. Pauls within touching distance as Kildimo-Pallaskenry continued to make the most of their opportunities. Shane Barry got his name on the scoresheet late in the half, but Kildimo-Pallaskenry finished strongly to take an 8-7 lead into the interval. Whatever was said in the Mungret St. Pauls dressing room at half-time certainly had the desired effect. Darragh O’Sullivan got Mungret St. Pauls off to the perfect start after the restart, followed by a point from Shane Barry. Just three minutes into the half, Barry struck for Mungret St. Pauls’ opening goal, giving the team a lead and a huge boost of confidence. Kildimo-Pallaskenry responded with two points, but Mungret St. Pauls were now firmly in control. O’Sullivan added another point before producing a crucial goal four minutes later. The pressure continued, and just moments after O’Sullivan’s goal, Jack Dervan found the back of the net to put further daylight between the sides. Mungret St. Pauls were now playing with confidence and freedom, with the defence holding Kildimo-Pallaskenry scoreless for the remainder of the game while the attack continued to add to the scoreboard. John Hutton and Conor Ó’Longaigh added points before Shane Barry completed the scoring with his sixth point of the evening in the 32nd minute.
The final whistle confirmed an emphatic 3-13 to 0-10 victory. It was an excellent display of character and determination from Mungret St. Pauls. Having gone into the break a point behind, the team responded in style, raising the intensity and producing a clinical second-half performance.
Premier Junior A Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 7-12 Fr. Caseys 0-04
Mungret St. Pauls produced a dominant display in Sean Finn Park on Saturday evening, 22 August 2026, as our Premier Junior A Footballers secured an emphatic 7-12 to 0-04 victory over Fr. Caseys. From the opening whistle, Mungret St. Pauls played with intensity and purpose, and the result was effectively established during a remarkable first half in which they found the net six times. Rory Mullins opened the scoring with a goal after just three minutes, setting the tone for what was to be an outstanding attacking performance. Muiris Ahern and Eoin T. Ryan quickly added points before David Burke and Mullins both found the back of the net in the 10th minute. Mungret St. Pauls were relentless, and further points from Eoin T. Ryan and a goal from Muiris Ahern were followed by another goal from Liam Ahern two minutes later.
Fr. Casey’s did manage to register a point, but Mungret St. Pauls continued to dominate proceedings. Michael Uwatse added a point before Eoin T. Ryan struck over two more scores.
David Burke then got his second goal of the half, leaving Mungret St. Pauls with an incredible 6-07 to 0-01 lead at half-time. Despite the commanding lead, Mungret St. Pauls continued to play with great energy after the restart. Eoin T. Ryan added another point in the fourth minute before Liam Ahern and Muiris Ahern combined for another goal. Conor White added a point shortly afterwards as Mungret St. Pauls continued to move the ball well and create opportunities.
Fr. Casey’s added two further points during the second half, but the Mungret St. Pauls defence remained resolute and limited their opponents to just four points across the entire game. The final flourish came from Muiris Ahern, who added a superb two-pointer to bring Mungret St. Pauls’ tally to an impressive 7-12. It was a hugely impressive performance from our Premier Junior A Footballers, who showed excellent attacking quality, defensive discipline and work rate throughout. A fantastic team performance and a strong showing from this group as they continue their Premier Junior A Football Championship campaign. This was the forth game in the Championship and after two wins and two losses they now sit in fourth place with 1 game left to play against the top of the table team, Glin.
Junior A Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 0-8 Ballylanders 4-20
Mungret St. Pauls were defeated by Ballylanders in the Junior A Football Championship in Hospital on Sunday, 23 August 2026.
Mungret St. Pauls started brightly and registered two points in quick succession, followed by another score four minutes later. Ballylanders had opened the scoring in the second minute, and the sides remained relatively close during the opening stages. However, Ballylanders gradually began to find their rhythm and enjoyed a strong spell through the middle and latter stages of the first half, adding a series of points to build an advantage. Mungret St. Pauls responded with a well-taken two-pointer, providing a welcome boost, but Ballylanders finished the half strongly with three further points. At the interval, Ballylanders led 0-10 to 0-05. Mungret St. Pauls needed a strong start to the second half, but Ballylanders continued to apply pressure, adding three points in the opening four minutes before finding the back of the net in the fifth minute. Mungret St. Pauls responded with a point, but Ballylanders struck for another goal just two minutes later and continued to press their advantage. Further Mungret St. Pauls points showed the determination of the team to keep battling, but Ballylanders maintained control and added a third goal. Ballylanders continued to find scores as the game progressed with their fourth goal. Ballylanders added further points in the closing stages, including a two-pointer, to complete the scoring. The final whistle saw Ballylanders secure a 4-20 to 0-08 victory. It was a difficult second half for Mungret St. Pauls, but the players continued to work hard and compete until the final whistle. The team can take the lessons from this game and focus on the challenges that lie ahead in the Junior A Football Championship. This is the second last game in the group with Mungret St. Pauls sitting in fifth place out of six with a win, a draw and two losses. A big thank you to all the players and management for their efforts and to everyone who travelled to Hospital to support the team.
