Mungret/St Pauls GAA Club Notes:
Limerick Players:
On Saturday afternoon in Ennis, Limerick Camogie were beaten 1-13 to 0-11 by Clare in the All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship. It marks their second loss in three games, making a quarter-final spot unlikely. Despite the result, there were positive signs, with a strong start and good midfield play showing they can compete at this level. Focus now turns to upcoming games against Wexford and Dublin as they aim to avoid a relegation play-off. Well done to our own Ailbhe Larkin (Vice Captain) who added a point to the score board on the day.
Well done to our own Saoirse Browne, who proudly represented MSPCamogie at the County U16 Long Puck Competition on Friday night
Held in the wonderful surrounds of Glencoshbinnia, on the Limerick/Tipperary border
the players took on the challenge of completing the route in the fewest strikes of a sliotar.
In what can only be described as a real battle against the elements, Saoirse put in a fantastic performance, finishing in 2nd place with just 17 shots, only 2 shots behind the winner, her fellow Limerick U16 teammate Katie Hedderman (Kilmallock) who next takes part in the Munsters.
A tremendous achievement in challenging conditions and a credit to both Saoirse and everyone who took part.

Well done to Aine Ryan, Carol Bateman, Gillian Buckley, Tara Geoghegan and the Limerick Ladies Football team who overcame London today in Gerald Griffins, Ballyhahill. Their hopes of reaching the semi final are still alight, with the final round fixture at home to Sligo.

The U14 Limerick Footballers were in Adamstown on Saturday 13 June 2026, well done to Mungret St. Pauls Oisin O Callaghan, Páidi Mullins, Ruadhán O hAnnaigh and Fionn Cummane.
The U-16 Limerick Footballers played Sligo in Sligo on Saturday 13 June where they had a loss, well done to Mungret St. Pauls Harry Nealon and Ordhán Bohane.
Fundraising:
Thank you to everyone who took part in the Munster Hurling fundraiser, congratulations to Conor Lynch who won €300, Billy Molyneaux who won €75 and to Shane Barry who won €50. Our last Sweepzy fundraiser for 2026 is currently open so don’t leave it too late to take part.

Community Games:
Congratulations are in order for the Regional Community Games U14 Camogie team who only went and won themselves the title of County Champions tonight!!!!
Bruree GAA pitch will forever have a special place in the hearts of this young team, for it was there they went head to head against Drom Broadford and came our on top.
Ably led by Captain Aoibheann Lyons, who manned the goals for the game, the players fought hard to put scores on the board and push on to the full time whistle to come out on top against their strong opponents.

Now they have the county title under their belt, they head to the Munsters next!!! Roll on the 28th of June where they will have home advantage v Tipp in UL. Keep her lit girls!
Senior Hurling:
Mungret St. Pauls 0-20 Newcastle West 2-8
Mungret St. Pauls produced an excellent all-round performance to claim the County Senior Hurling League Division 2 title with a six-point victory over Newcastle West in the Bog Garden, Rathkeale on Monday night, 8 June 2026.
Playing with purpose from the throw-in, Mungret St. Pauls quickly settled into their rhythm and opened the scoring after two minutes when Barry Duff pointed from play. Matt O’Sullivan added another a minute later before Mark O’Brien converted a free to put three points between the sides.
Mungret St. Pauls continued to dominate possession and the scoreboard. Another Barry Duff effort and a fine point from Mark O’Brien stretched the lead to five before Newcastle West finally opened their account after twelve minutes. Conor O’Halloran replied immediately and further scores from Barry Duff, Paul O’Brien, another Duff effort, Conor O’Halloran and a Mark O’Brien free saw Mungret St. Pauls establish a commanding 0-11 to 0-1 advantage.
Newcastle West enjoyed a brief spell before the break, adding three points, but Mungret St. Pauls remained firmly in control. Matt O’Sullivan struck his second point of the evening and Barry Duff capped a superb first-half display with his fifth score from play to leave Mungret St. Pauls leading 0-13 to 0-4 at half-time, despite facing into the prospect of Newcastle West having the assistance of the breeze in the second period.
The second half began dramatically as Newcastle West struck for two goals inside the opening three minutes to suddenly cut the deficit to just three points. However, Mungret St. Pauls showed great composure and character in response.
Mark O’Brien steadied matters with a pointed free before adding another from play. Paul O’Brien also got on the scoresheet as Mungret St. Pauls gradually regained control. Newcastle West reduced the gap with a sideline cut and a free, but another Mark O’Brien point restored Mungret St. Pauls’ five-point cushion.
As the game entered the closing stages, Newcastle West continued to battle and added another free and a point from play. However, Mungret St. Pauls always had an answer. Mark O’Brien converted another free before Liam Lynch proved decisive, firing over two excellent points, including one deep into injury time, to ensure there would be no late comeback.
After weathering the early second-half storm, Mungret St. Pauls finished strongly and fully deserved their 0-20 to 2-8 victory. A powerful first-half display, combined with a composed response to Newcastle West’s resurgence, saw the county title make its way back to Mungret St. Pauls captain, Brian O’Meara.
Congratulations to all involved on a tremendous achievement and a well-earned county final success.
Junior B Football:
Mungret St. Pauls: 1-11 Knockane: 2-15
Mungret St. Pauls bowed out of the East Junior B Football Championship following a hard-fought semi-final encounter with Knockane in Meanus on Friday evening, 12 June 2026.
Mungret St. Pauls made the brighter start and opened the scoring with a point from play. Although Knockane quickly responded, Mungret St. Pauls regained the initiative with further scores to lead 0-3 to 0-1 after nine minutes. Knockane, however, gradually found their rhythm and chipped away at the deficit.
A free brought Knockane to within a point before they drew level midway through the half. Three unanswered scores saw them move two points clear before Mungret St. Pauls responded with a well-taken point to narrow the gap. Knockane finished the half strongly with two further points to take a 0-7 to 0-4 advantage into the break.
The second half began with Knockane extending their lead, but Mungret St. Pauls replied immediately with a point from play to stay in touch. The game’s first major score arrived three minutes into the half when Knockane struck for a goal to open up a six-point advantage.
Mungret St. Pauls refused to let the contest slip away and showed great character. A pointed free and another score from play reduced the deficit, and after Knockane added a point, Mungret St. Pauls again replied to leave four points between the sides. Knockane continued to keep the scoreboard moving and led 1-10 to 0-8 entering the final quarter.
A dramatic spell followed on sixteen minutes when both sides found the net. Mungret St. Pauls raised a green flag to give themselves renewed hope, but Knockane immediately responded with a goal of their own to maintain control of the contest. That score proved decisive as Knockane added a succession of points to stretch their advantage.
To their credit, Mungret St. Pauls continued to battle until the final whistle. A point from play and two late frees reduced the margin, but Knockane had the final say with another point to seal a 2-15 to 1-11 victory.
While disappointed to fall short of a place in the final, Mungret St. Pauls can take pride in their efforts and in the determination shown right to the end in Friday evening’s semi-final.
Junior A Hurling:
Mungret St. Pauls 0-30 Crecora Manister 0-14
Mungret St. Pauls secured their place in the City Junior A Hurling Championship Final following a dominant 0-30 to 0-14 victory over Crecora-Manister in the semi-final played in Rathbane on Sunday, 14 June 2026.
Mungret St. Pauls made the perfect start, opening the scoring from play straight from the throw-in and quickly settled into their stride. Although Crecora-Manister responded with a score from a 65, Mungret St. Pauls were already finding their rhythm and had opened up a four-point advantage by the fifth minute.
With their attack firing on all cylinders, Mungret St. Pauls continued to dictate matters. Crecora-Manister added scores from a free and another 65, but Mungret St. Pauls accuracy in front of the posts ensured they remained firmly in control. By the midway point of the half, Mungret St. Pauls had built up a 0-10 to 0-3 lead.
Crecora-Manister continued to battle and added further scores from play and frees, but Mungret St. Pauls always had the answers. A strong finish to the opening period saw them register five points in the final six minutes, including scores from play and placed balls, to take a commanding 0-17 to 0-6 advantage into the interval.
Any hopes of a Crecora-Manister revival were quickly extinguished after the restart. Mungret St. Pauls struck four unanswered points in the opening five minutes of the second half to stretch the lead to sixteen points and underline their dominance. Crecora-Manister managed to halt the momentum with a free and another score from play, but Mungret St. Pauls continued to keep the scoreboard ticking over scores from placed balls and open play ensured the gap remained comfortable throughout the second half.
Despite the opposition’s efforts to reduce the deficit, Mungret St. Pauls never allowed them to gain any real momentum. Their defence stood firm while the forwards maintained an impressive level of accuracy, with scores coming regularly as the game wore on.
Mungret St. Pauls finished strongly, producing a flourish of four points in the closing stages to put the seal on a comprehensive sixteen-point victory. The final whistle confirmed a 0-30 to 0-14 triumph and a deserved place in the City Junior A Hurling Championship Final. It was an accomplished performance from Mungret St. Pauls, who combined sharp shooting with a disciplined defensive display and will take plenty of confidence into the decider after an outstanding team performance in Rathbane.
