U-17 Division 1 & 2 Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 5-11 Fr. Caseys 1-11
Mungret St. Pauls delivered an outstanding all-round performance to secure a comprehensive victory over Fr. Caseys in the U-17 Division 1 & 2 Football League in Mungret on Wednesday evening, 15 April 2026, battling challenging conditions that saw strong winds throughout and heavy rain arriving in the second half.
Playing with intent from the throw-in, Mungret St. Pauls made an early statement when they found the net after just eight minutes with a well-worked goal from play. Although Fr. Caseys responded with a point, Mungret St. Pauls quickly took control of proceedings, adding a series of well-taken points to build momentum.
The home side’s attacking fluency was evident as they picked off scores from play with confidence, and despite a Fr. Caseys goal midway through the half that briefly narrowed the gap, Mungret St. Pauls responded in the best possible fashion. A second goal on 18 minutes restored their authority before an excellent two-pointer stretched the lead further. By the closing stages of the half, Mungret St. Pauls continued to add to their tally, including a point from a free, to leave the score at 2-8 to 1-1 at the break.
With the weather deteriorating after halftime, Mungret St. Pauls showed great composure and work rate to maintain their grip on the game. Early points from placed balls settled any nerves before a clinical penalty goal pushed them further ahead. Moments later, another goal from play effectively put the contest beyond reach.
To their credit, Fr. Caseys battled hard in difficult conditions and found some momentum with a series of scores, including impressive two-pointers, but the Mungret St. Pauls defence held firm when required. At the other end, Mungret St. Pauls continued to take their chances, adding another point from play before capping an excellent team performance with a fifth goal late on.
Overall, this was a dominant display from Mungret St. Pauls, combining sharp attacking play with resilience in poor conditions. Their ability to respond to setbacks and maintain scoring pressure throughout both halves proved decisive, as they ran out convincing winners on a scoreline of 5-11 to 1-11.
U-13 Football Division 4:
Mungret St. Pauls 1-9 Knockaderry 3-3
Mungret St. Pauls delivered a strong and determined performance on the road in Knockaderry on Thursday evening 16 April 2026, coming away with a draw in this U-13 Division 4 Football League encounter.
The visitors showed great intent from the outset, working hard across the pitch and making good use of possession to keep the scoreboard ticking. Their accuracy in front of goal proved crucial, with a steady stream of points helping them build and maintain momentum throughout the game.
The key moment for Mungret St. Pauls came with a well-taken goal, which provided a valuable boost and helped create a gap between the sides. While Knockaderry responded with three goals of their own to keep the contest alive, Mungret St. Pauls consistency in scoring points ensured they remained in control.
Displaying excellent teamwork, work rate, and composure, Mungret St. Pauls continued to press forward and add to their tally, ultimately finishing with an impressive 1-9. Despite the threat posed by Knockaderry’s goals, Mungret St. Pauls overall balance and scoring efficiency saw them on even par of 1-9 to 3-3.
This was an encouraging performance from the young side, highlighting their resilience and ability to see out a competitive game away from home.
Unfortunately for our Division 1 team, both Monaleen and Mungret St. Pauls were togged and ready to go but no referee to officiate. This game will be rescheduled.
Feile na nGael:
Mungret St. Pauls put in a determined effort across all three rounds of Féile na nGael, showing resilience and spirit despite tough opposition throughout the evening in Mungret on Friday 17 April 2026.
Round 1 vs Ballybrown
Mungret St. Pauls started brightly, responding well after an early Ballybrown point with two well-taken scores from play to edge ahead. The sides were level at the break, 0-2 apiece, in a tightly contested opening half. Ballybrown came out strongly in the second half, hitting a succession of points to build momentum. Mungret St. Pauls battled hard and were rewarded with a late goal, but Ballybrown’s earlier scoring burst proved decisive, leaving the final score at 1-3 to 1-8.
Round 2 vs Monagea
In the second game, Mungret St. Pauls showed great accuracy from placed balls, keeping the scoreboard ticking with a series of frees. However, Monagea’s ability to find the net twice in the first half gave them a significant advantage, leading 2-3 to 0-4 at half time. Mungret St. Pauls responded well after the break with a strong run of points, narrowing the gap, but Monagea continued to pick off scores to maintain control and ran out winners on a scoreline of 2-8 to 0-9.
Round 3 vs Na Piarsaigh
The final game proved the most challenging, as Na Piarsaigh struck early with goals that put Mungret St. Pauls under pressure. Despite this, Mungret St. Pauls continued to fight and produced some excellent points from both play and frees. Trailing 3-4 to 0-5 at half time, they showed great determination in the second half, adding five more points and never letting their heads drop. However, the early goals from Na Piarsaigh ultimately proved the difference, with the game finishing 3-7 to 0-10.
While results didn’t go their way, Mungret St. Pauls displayed strong character, work rate, and scoring ability throughout the tournament. Their perseverance, particularly in the later stages of each game, was a real positive to build on going forward.
Thank you to Kirby Engineering and Construction for their generous sponsorship of the Féile teams this year. Thank you also to all our volunteers who helped out on both the Friday night and on Sunday when the Semi Finals and Finals were played. Congratulations to Na Piarsaigh who were successful in the final and will represent Limerick this year.
Intermediate Hurling:
Mungret St. Pauls 0-19 Pallasgreen 1-17
Mungret St. Pauls produced a battling and spirited performance in Mungret on Saturday evening, 18 April 2026 but were just edged out by Pallasgreen in a high-scoring and closely contested Intermediate Hurling League clash.
The home side made a bright start, opening the scoring straight from the throw-in with a well-taken point from play. Pallasgreen responded quickly, and the sides were level early on as both teams settled into a good rhythm. Mungret St. Pauls continued to keep the scoreboard ticking with a mix of points from play and placed balls, showing good composure in attack.
The key moment of the first half came on nine minutes when Pallasgreen struck for a goal, giving them a valuable cushion. Despite this setback, Mungret St. Pauls showed great resilience, responding with a series of frees and points from play to stay in touch. The exchanges were lively and evenly matched, with both sides trading scores throughout. A strong finish to the half, including two late points, saw Mungret St. Pauls draw level at the break, 0-10 to 1-7.
Mungret St. Pauls carried that momentum into the second half, edging ahead early with a point from play. However, Pallasgreen responded in kind, and the game developed into a tit-for-tat battle once again. Mungret St. Pauls’ work rate and accuracy, particularly from frees, kept them right in contention as the lead changed hands on multiple occasions.
Midway through the second half, Pallasgreen enjoyed a purple patch, hitting a run of points to move three clear and put pressure on the home side. To their credit, Mungret St. Pauls refused to let the game slip away. They rallied strongly, picking off crucial scores to close the gap and set up a tense finish.
In the closing stages, Mungret St. Pauls continued to push forward and were rewarded with late points to bring the margin back to the minimum. However, despite their determined effort and a final score deep into stoppage time, they were unable to find the equaliser, with Pallasgreen holding on for a narrow one-point victory on a scoreline of 1-17 to 0-19.
Overall, this was a committed and encouraging performance from Mungret St. Pauls, who showed great character to battle back throughout and will take plenty of positives from such a closely fought encounter.
