Limerick’s Hegarty hits club’s winning goal 48 hours after final victory
April 02, 2019
Just two days after his county’s Allianz Hurling League final triumph, Limerick star Gearoid Hegarty was back on duty tonight for his club in the county intermediate football championship.
The 25-year-old, who contributed 0-3 from play in the final victory over Waterford at Croke Park, struck the crucial goal as St Patrick’s defeated Pallasgreen by 1-10 to 0-9 in the IFC opener played at Kilbreedy.
The sides had been all square on 0-6 apiece before Hegarty’s strike swung the pendulum the way of the Saints with a well-taken major as they kicked on for a four-point victory in the end.
Tonight’s other game in the Treaty County saw St Kieran’s overcoming the challenge of Na Piarsaigh by 2-16 to 0-10 in the senior football championship.
