U14 A WEST HURLING LEAGUE FINAL 1990
Knockaderry 1-3
Feohanagh 1-2
On Sunday, December 9th 1990 in Ballingarry , Knockaderry played Feohanagh in the West U14 Hurling League Final winning on the day by a point. On the day it was a thrilling and outstanding game under bitterly cold conditions. Even though the lads had the wind in the first half they found it hard to rack up the scores hence they were only leading by 2 points going into 2nd half. The pressure was on the lads in the 2nd half and they responded brilliantly but midway through the second half Feohanagh scored a goal leaving the lads trailing by 2 points. The excitement was building and this echoed through the supporters. With defeat on the horizon, the lads won a 21 yard free, this was left to centre fielder Liam Collum to do the business. From an acute angle Liam’s shot rattled the back of the Feohanagh net, sending the Knockaderry supporters wild. With pressure on and to the delight of the lads the final whistle went. On the day the winning captain Ollie Dowling lifted the cup, on a famous victory. The ref on the day was Feenagh man Jim Long. Line out on the day was, Sean O Donnell, Eamon O Connor, Felim Mullane, John Meehan, Pat Stack, Eamon Power, Ollie Dowling (cpt), Liam Collum, Richard Hickey, Pat Sullivan, Tom Foley, Martin Downes, Tom Sheehy, Pat Corkery and Seamus Meehan. Subs were: Richard D Wall, Denis O Connor, Des Dillane, Eoin O Sullivan, Richard D Wall, Johnny Mackessey, Podge Henessey and James O Connor.
