Kilteely/Dromkeen GAA Club Notes:
RIP Pakie Redfren:
It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Club Life President Pakie Redfern, Dromkeen today. Pakie leaves a substantial legacy of many decades of involvement at all levels of Kilteely-Dromkeen GAA. On the playing field, Pakie was a goalkeeper of somerenown starting out his Junior Hurling career as a 15 year old at the end of the 1950’s to become an ever present netminder into the late 1970’s. Pakie played a central role in the Kilteely-Dromkeen 1972 County title winning side and was a leader on our Senior championship team for many years.
Pakie also won East Junior Championship with the club as well as an east minor hurling championship with Caherline.
Pakie served as Kilteely Dromkeen Club Chairman, Treasurer, County Board delegate, East Board delegate, fundraiser, dinner dance organiser, Team manager, selector & coach to many teams at all age groups, from Cloverfield NS through to the Bord na nÓg and adult teams for many years.
He will be remembered fondly by many in the Limerick GAA family where he was a widely known and respected. He also contributed to many community organisations and campaigns down through the years and was always ready, willing and able to help out his local Community in any way. We offer our condolences to Breda (whom he is pictured with here in recent weeks celebrating a visit of the Mackey and McCarthy cups to his home in Dromkeen) his sons, Barry, Paul & Padraig, daughters-in-law Corina, Vittoria & Ruth, his grandchildren, Árann, Donagh, Éabha, Luke & Ella. his sister, Mary McKenna, nephew Tony and niece Shirley and his wider family, neighbours and many friends. May Pakie Rest In Peace.
