Intermediate Hurling:
The lads put in a huge performance in horrendous weather conditions on Sunday in Ballyagran against Knockaderry in the last group game to get a 2nd win in a row and qualify for a quarter final after a few weeks previously it looked like a relegation battle was on the the cards. In what was a serious battle of the wills the lads got a great start to go 5 pts to 1 up with Harry Fox to the fore before a goal against the run of play got Knockaderry level. It was tit for tat for remainder of the half before Knockaderry pounced for a 2nd goal on the stroke of halftime after a great save by Lorcan Costello rebounded into the path of an opposing player who rattled the sliothar to the net to leave the halftime score 2.06 to 0.09. A quick start to the 2nd half by the lads didn’t reap any rewards with 4 wides in a row before they settled down with some good scores & then a Mickey Bob Ryan goal gave us a lead of 3 points. The defence & Lorcan in goals put in a huge shift in the half and laid the platform for the lads out the field to do the business. Knockaderry got 3 frees in a row to level up before a very strong finish gave us a 1.17 to 2.09 victory. Fantastic credit to the players & management who after such a poor start to the championship have recovered really well. A quarter final awaits next weekend. Team: Lorcan Costello, John Riordan, Mark Deegan, Ross Winship, Darragh O Sullivan, Oisin O Grady, Killian Real, Callum Winship, Tadgh Leddin, Harry Fox, Michael Whelan, Conor O Grady, Mickey Bob Ryan, Joe Fogarty, Keith O Connor. Subs Used: Dylan O Connor, Jack O Sullivan, Sean Deegan.
