BANK HOLDIAY MONDAY 2020 WEST JUNIOR B FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI FINAL
Bank Holiday Monday May 7th in Knockaderry at 3pm sees the eagerly awaited meeting of Granagh/Ballingarry and Feenagh/Kilmeedy in the much delayed 2020 semi final of the West Junior B Football Championship.
Granagh/Ballingarry will be aiming to read their first final since defeating Dromcollogher/Broadford 3-11 to 2-9 after a replay in the 2018 final and Feenagh/Kilmeedy their first since defeating St. Senan’s 1-12 to 0-11 also after a replay in the 2013 decider. When the sides met in the last game of Group 2 on Tuesday 22nd August last at Pauirc Caoimh Uí Luing Feenagh Granagh/Ballingarry won by two points 1-18 to 1-16.
The teams in that exciting contest played in difficult wet and windy conditions.

Both sides are in Bank Holiday Monday semi final on merit after playing a lot of good football on the way to finish level with Adare on six points at the top of Group 2 with the Feenagh/Kilmeedy boys going straight to the semi final on scoring difference and Granagh/Ballingarry and Adare in the quarter finals.

The best of luck to the Granagh/Ballingarry boys and their management team Shane O’Grady and O’Sullivan in their bid to reach their bid to reach their third West Junior B Football Championship Final in five seasons against holders Knockaderry or Adare on Thursday 17th June at 7.30pm. Venue tbc.
Note: Due to restrictions the maximum panel is 24, mentors is a maximum of 12 and chairperson and secretary can attend also i.e. extra to the 12.
Players came togged out with no dressing room facilities available.
No spectators will be allowed admission.

Membership Due
Granagh/Ballingarry GAA Club membership fees for 2021 are now due and are €40 for adult players €120 with club draw, €20 for students and non players €15 for Bord na nÓg, €120 per family. Non players who pay €100 club draw fee in full will automatically became members for 2021 fees should be paid on or before July 1st to club registrar John Carroll.
Note: All adult players’ membership fees must be paid through the clubforce app with direct debit options available before the return to play on June 7th.
To train or play for the club you have to be insured. If you have not yet registered we ask that you do so. It is generally felt by club officers that any member or player should feel obliged to get their membership paid asap and we must reiterate that people who have not paid will not be covered by insurance or entitled to any privileges whatsoever from the club.
National Football/Hurling League
Congratulations to the Limerick senior footballers on their impressive 2-19 to 1-12 victory over Wicklow in the National Football League Division 3 South, Round 3 tie at Aughrim on Saturday to finish second on the table on four points, two behind Offaly, to qualify for the semi final where Division 3 North table toppers Derry will provide the opposition in two weeks time. We wish the best of luck to manager John Kiely and our own coach/selector Donal O’Grady and all involved with the Limerick senior hurlers who will be hoping to get back to winning ways when they clash with neighbours Cork in Round 4 of the National Hurling League Division 1A on this Saturday 5th June in Pairc na nGael at 7.15pm.
Re-instatment of Loss of Wages Cover
Croke Park and the County Board has confirmed that a GAA players loss of wages cover will be re-instated in the GAA Player Injury Fund with effect from 1st June. It will form part of the GAA Players Injury Fund inline with previous years and will see the associated cover benefits restored in full.
A 25% levy will not be applied to our clubs’ adult and U20 team registration costs with all claims fully administered from within the existing GAA Player Injury Fund and not via a separate insurance policy. This will see our adult team registration cost increase from, €1,000 to €1,250 and U20 team registration increase from €200 to €250. There will be no increases applied to juvenile team rates.
Note: the 2021/22 Player Injury Fund term will run from 1st June to 31st May 2022. Injury cover will commence once a player is registered on the Foireann System payment of our clubs’ 2021/22 injury fund premium will be due by 20th August.
Challenge Games Not Permitted
Given the volume of the county leagues in both hurling and football and the increase rates of Covid within the County Limerick County GAA Board have decided not to permit challenge games within or outside the county until the completion of all rounds of the County Hurling and Football League. This includes Coise na nÓg and coaching and games also.

€13,400 Jackpot on Saturday
There was no winner of the €13,300 jackpot in the Granagh/Ballingarry GAA Club lottery on Saturday 29th May. The numbers drawn were 8, 28, 29 and 32. Lucky dips of €20 each went to S. O’D promoter John O’Keeffe; Joe Tierney promoter Mike Healy; Damien O’Donovan promoter John Carroll; Rena O’Brien promoter O’Gorman’s Shop. The next draw will be held this Saturday 5th May for a jackpot of 13,400. Tickets are €2 each or three for €5 and are on sale in local shops from promoters. Thank you for all your support.
