West Intermediate Hurling Championship Quarter Final
Knockaderry 3-25 Granagh Ballingarry 3-23
At a sunny Quaid Park in Coolyroe on Saturday evening Knockaderry recorded a thrilling two point, 3-25 to 3-23, victory over a gallant Granagh Ballingarry in the quarter final of the West Intermediate Hurling Championship to qualify for a semi final meeting with Feohanagh Castlemahon on Sunday 21st June in Newcastle West at 7pm.
The Feohanagh Castlemahon Club had their pitch in top class condition for this clash of neighbours in the West Intermediate Hurling Championship played in front of a good crowd, with Kieran Guina of the host club in charge.
As the game commenced Cillian Moloney pointed for the winners. Darragh O’Donoghue replied for Granagh Ballingarry. Enda Moran and Paudie Murphy pointed to level the game, 0-2 each. Jack Hartnett pointed, Robert Egan goaled for Knockaderry to lead 1-2 to 0-3. Enda Moran and Mark Danaher pointed 1-4 to 0-3. Eoin Horgan pointed a free in the 9th minute. Mark Danaher put over a 65 for the boys in green and white to lead 1-5 to 0-4 on the 13th minute. Enda Moran goaled for Knockaderry to lead by 2-5 to 0-4. Paudie Murphy pointed, followed with a goal from a Thomas Horgan pass to bring the score 2-5 to 1-5. Mark Danaher gave his team a 1-1 lead. Darragh O’Donoghue pointed 2-6 to 1-6. Kieran Storin pointed, David Condron goaled in the 18th minute, Knockaderry led by 2-7 to 2-6. Further scores were hit over to bring the half time score to Knockaderry 2-15, Granagh Ballingarry 2-12.
As the second half commenced, Darragh O’Donoghue pointed a free, Eoin O’Connor pointed from play, Darragh Casey and Robert Egan pointed. Paudie Murphy goaled his second in the 41st minute to draw the game, Granagh Ballingarry 3-14, Knockaderry 2-17. Granagh Ballingarry had two in succession Darragh O’Donoghue, Darragh Casey, Mark Danaher pointed from a free, Granagh Ballingarry 3-16, Knockaderry 2-18. Granagh Ballingarry had four in a row from Darragh Casey, David Condron, Darragh O’Donoghue 0-2, to lead 3-20 to 2-18. Robert Egan pointed, Darragh Casey pointed. Granagh Ballingarry 3-21, Knockaderry 2-19. Eoin O’Connor scored a goal, Granagh Ballingarry 3-21, Knockaderry 3-10. Enda Moran added a point, Knockaderry had the final 0-6 to win by 3-25 to 3-23. A well taken point following a good solo run two minutes into added time by David O’Brien proved the way for a one point, 3-20 to 3-19 victory for Feohanagh-Castlemahon over unlucky Granagh-Ballingarry and a place in the West Junior B Hurling Championship semi-final against Adare after a thrilling 45 score contest at sunny St. Kierans GAA club grounds in Ardagh on Monday evening.
The St. Kieran’s officials had their pitch in top class condition for this thrilling West Junior B Hurling championship played in front of a good crowd with Mickie Browne of Dromcollogher-Broadford in charge. The opening 30 minutes in Ardagh were close and exciting with the boys from Knockfierna going in at the interval leading by 4 points, 2-10 to 1-9. It was tit for tat in the second half with the sides level at 3-19 each on 60 minutes before Feohanagh-Castlemahon No. 10 split the uprights following a good solo run two minutes into added time to seal a thrilling 1 point, 3-20 to 3-19 for the boys in white and blue over unlucky Granagh-Ballingarry and a place in the West Junior B Hurling Championship semi-final against Adare. All 33 players and referee Mickie Browne and his officials must be complemented for their part in this thrilling 45 score contest. Feohanagh-Castlemahon scored 3-12 from play and 0-8 from frees; Granagh-Ballingarry scored 3-11 from play and 0-8 from frees.

Jim (Twin) Lynch Memorial Cup Final in aid of St. Ita’s Rehabilitation Unit:
All roads lead to Granagh-Ballingarry GAA Grounds in Ballingarry on Friday 26th June at 7.30pm for the mouth-watering clash of 7-in-a-row seeking Granagh-Ballingarry and recently crowned County Hurling League Division 3 champions neighbours Bruree in the final of the 7th annual Granagh-Ballingarry Jim (Twin) Lynch Memorial Cup hurling tournament. All proceeds of a bucket collection at the Memorial Cup Final will go to the Rehabilitation Unit in St. Ita’s Community Hospital in Newcastle West. The late Jim (Twin) Lynch had a life long association with the GAA and the Granagh-Ballingarry club and at the time of his sudden passing on Tuesday 28th May 2019 the assistant secretary of the West Limerick GAA Board. Your support of the Memorial Cup Final and the Rehabilitation Unit in St. Ita’s Hospital, Newcastle West would be greatly appreciated.

Sports Club Development and participation support grant 2026:
Granagh-Ballingarry GAA Club’s application for the Sports Club Development Participation Support Grant 2026 was successful and the club will receive €1,500. A huge thank you to Club Health and Wellbeing officer Charlotte Hablkey and to everyone involved in the application process who worked tirelessly to secure this funding.
June County Draw:
The next Limerick County GAA clubs draw is on Saturday 27th June with a top prize of €10,000. There are a host of other prizes to be won, 2nd €3,000, 3rd €2,000, 4th €1000, 5th exclusive star prize, 6th to 9th €500, 10th to 13th €300, 14th to 30th €200.
Our club had approximately 200 members in the third draw on Saturday 30th May and one winner, Katie Fitzgerald.

Munster Senior Hurling Championship Final Man of the Match Prediction winner:
Hearty congratulations to Mary Cagney who correctly predicted Nicky Quaid of Limerick as the winner of the RTE Man of the Match in the recent Cork v Limerick Munster Senior Hurling Championship Final and won €250 plus a voucher for two O’Connor hurleys.

Hearty congratulations to the Limerick minor hurlers, our won Danny O’Grady, a member of the squad on their impressive 11 point, 1-26 to 1-16 victory over Leinster champions Galway on Saturday at Cusack Park, Ennis to quali8fy for their first Minor Hurling Championship Final since 2016 against Munster champions Tipperary in a rematch of the recent Munster Final on Saturday 27th or Sunday 28th July.

All Ireland Hurling Semi-final tickets:
Limerick play Clare or Offaly in the All Ireland Senior Hurling Championship semi-final on Sunday 5th July in Croke Park at 4pm. With a capacity of over 81,000 tickets will be plentiful and anyone who wishes to attend the game will be able to do so as the game won’t be a sell out. Tickets are currently on sale via Ticketmaster and selected SuperValu and Centra outlets. Thank you for your understanding in this matter and hopefully there will be a big travelling support from Granagh-Ballingarry on the day to support the boys in green and white.

€3,800 Jackpot on Saturday:
There was no winner of the €3,700 jackpot in the Granagh/Ballingarry GAA in the lottery draw held on Saturday 13th June in Buckley’s Bar, Ballingarry. The numbers drawn were 1, 4, 12 and 26. The lucky dip winners of €20 each went to Mark O’Sullivan, promoter online; Joan Broderick, Pa Joe O’Connor and Mary Roche.
