Ten point second League win for Granagh-Ballingarry:
Granagh-Ballingarry 6-17 Cappamore 3-16
Granagh-Ballingarry recorded their second win in division 3 of the County hurling league with an impressive 10 point, 6-17 to 3-6 victory over gallant Cappamore at windy Cappamore on Saturday evening to go fifth on the table on 5 points and Cappamore sixth on 4 points.
This East v West County Hurling League Division 3 Round 5 tie was played in showery, windy conditions on an excellent pitch in front of a small crowd with Tom McGlinchey of Newport in charge. Cappamore No. 13 Ronan Hanly split the uprights from open play in the second minute before the youthful Darragh O’Donoghue finished past Cappamore keeper Liam O’Donnell a minute later to leave 2 between the sides, Granagh-Ballingarry 1-0, Cappamore 0-1 on 3 minutes. Granagh-Ballingarry captain Luke Flynn split the uprights from a placed ball on 5 minutes and Darragh O’Donoghue finished past Cappamore keeper Liam O’Donnell for the second time on 7 minutes and white flags were traded from open play by Sean O’Gorman on 9 minutes and Sean Whelan on 11 minutes, Michael Russell on 13 minutes and John Ryan 2 minutes later to leave 5 between the sides, Granagh-Ballingarry 2-3, Cappamore 0-4 at the end of the third quarter. Sean Whelan of Cappamore raised a pair of white flags from a placed ball on 16 minutes and open play on 18 minutes before points were traded from open play by Luke Flynn on 19 minutes and Donnacha Hogan on 21 minutes, Eoin Herlihy on 23 minutes and Ultan Hogan a minute later to leave three between the sides, Granagh-Ballingarry 2-5, Cappamore 0-5 on 24 minutes. Cappamore with the wind at their back had a goal through their No. 11 Sean Hayes on 25 minutes followed up by a trio of white flags through Donnacha Hogan on 26 minutes and Jamie Fahey on 27 minutes from open play and Sean Whelan from a placed ball on 29 minutes before Luke Flynn raised the Granagh-Ballingarry boys’ third green flag on 30 minutes to leave the home side one ahead. Sean Whelan and David Condron traded white flags from open play in added time to leave the Cappamore boys in at the interval still one ahead, 1-13 to 3-6. Luke Flynn from a placed ball and Sean Whelan from open play traded white flags in the opening 3 minutes after the interval before a pair of white flags for Granagh-Ballingarry through Luke Flynn from a placed ball on 34 minutes and Sean O’Gorman from open play a minute later to leave the visitors one ahead, 3-9 to 1-14 on 35 minutes. Darragh Casey raised the boys in black and green flag on 36 minutes before points were traded from open play by Ultan Hogan on 37 minutes and Eoin Horgan a minute later to extend the Granagh-Ballingarry boys advantage to four 4-10 to 1-15 on 38 minutes. Points were traded from open play by Darragh O’Donoghue on 41 minutes and Tadhg Ryan on 45 minutes before a pair of white flags from open play for the visitors courtesy of Tom Horgan on 48 minutes and Luke Flynn 2 minutes to extend the Granagh-Ballingarry boys’ advantage to 6, 4-13 to 1-16 on 50 minutes. Cappamore substitute Ben Ryan made his presence felt when he reduced the deficit to 3 before a trio of white flags for Granagh-Ballingarry in as many minutes through Luke Flynn free, Colm Noonan play and David Condron play, followed up by a pair of green flags by David Condron on 57 minutes and substitute Conor O’Donoughue 2 minutes later to leave the visitors 6-16 to 2-16 on 59 minutes. Sean Whelan raised the home side third green flag on 30 minutes before Michael Russell split the upright from open play for Granagh-Ballingarry in added time. At the final whistle Granagh-Ballingarry recorded their second win in Division 3 of the County Hurling League with an impressive 10 point victory on a full time score of 3-16 to 6-17. This result sees Granagh-Ballingarry go fifth on the Division 3 Hurling League table on 5 points and Cappamore 6th on 4 points. Granagh-Ballingarry can now look forward with confidence to their clash with South Liberties in the final round on Saturday 23rd May in Ballingarry at 7.30pm. Tipperary win 43rd Munster Minor title with 7 point win:

Hard luck to the Limerick minor hurlers and management and especially our own Danny O’Grady wearing the No. 14 jersey whose bid to win a first Munster Minor Hurling Championship title since 2020 failed when going under to a fine Tipperary side by 7 points, 3-16 to 0-18 in front of 3,760 supporters at Semple Stadium, Thurles on Friday evening. This result sees Tipperary take their 43rd Munster Minor Hurling Championship title to qualify for the All Ireland semi-final, while the Limerick boys’ season is not yet over as they play the winner of one of the preliminary quarter-final in the All Ireland Minor Hurling Championship quarter-final????? in a couple of weeks time.
Munster Hurling Championship Round 5 tickets:
Granagh-Ballingarry received a total of 120 stand tickets for Sunday’s Limerick v Tipperary Munster Senior Hurling Championship round 5 games in Pairc na nGael at 4pm. Please note terrace tickets are currently on sale through Ticketmaster and not through our club. Thank you to all club members for their co-operation to implement the sale of tickets. Hopefully there will be big Granagh-Ballingarry support on the day.
Draw promoters hit the streets:
Granagh/Ballingarry GAA club draw promoters are taking to the streets of the parish to canvas members to join the club draw which will be held quarterly with €2,000 in prizes, 1 prize €1000 and ten prizes of 100 vouchers with the option to join in the club weekly lottery draw for €150 and the club draw lottery/county club draw for €200. If you wish to renew your membership, please contact your promoter a.s.a.p. as the first draw will take place shortly.
May County Club Draw:
The next Limerick County GAA club’s draw is on Saturday 30th May with a top prize of €10,000. There are a host of other prizes to be won, 2nd €3,000, 3rd €2,000, 4th €1000, 5th exclusive prize, 6th to 9th €500, 10th to 13th €300, 14th to 30th €200. Entry to the draw is just €10 per month with the option to join our own quarterly club draw which takes place shortly and County Club draw for €150. Hearty congratulations to the Limerick senior hurlers, manager John Kiely, captain Cian Lynch and our own Donal and Darragh O’Grady and the rest of the management team on back-to-back wins in the Munster Senior Hurling Championship with a hard fought 9-point, 2-29 to 2-20 victory over gallant Waterford in front of over 22,000 spectators in difficult wet and windy conditions at Páirc nan Gael on Sunday. This result sees the Treaty boys go joint second in the table on 4 points with Clare 2 points behind holders Cork and a victory for the Treaty boys over bottom-of-the-table on one point All Ireland champions Tipperary in the final Round Robin game on this Sunday 24th May in Páirc na nGael at 4p will see them through to their eight Munster Senior Hurling Championship final in-a-row.

Granagh/Ballingarry joint third on three points with Pallasgreen play Doon sixth on two points in their final game in Division 8 of the County Hurling League this Thursday 21st May in Ballingarry at 7.30pm. At Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale on Saturday morning Granagh/Ballingarry recorded a thrilling four point, 3-5 to 2-4, victory over gallant Bruff after extra time to win the County U13 Hurling Division 2 Cup title. Huge congratulations to this great bunch of boys who thoroughly deserved this county title after a most impressive hard fought campaign and thanks also to the parents who never failed to support them, home and away, and the coaches also.
