County Hurling League Division 8 Round 1
Croagh-Kilfinny 3-23 Granagh-Ballingarry 0-17
The much delayed meeting of neighbours Granagh-Ballingarry and Croagh-Kilfinny in the opening round of Division 8 in the County Hurling League in cold, dry conditions at Croagh on Tuesday 31st March went the way of the home side Croagh-Kilfinny with an impressive 15 point, 2-23 to 0-17 victory over gallant Granagh-Ballingarry to go joint second with Staker Wallace, one behind Pallasgreen with a game in hand.
The Croagh-Kilfinny officials had their pitch in top class conditions for this league clash of neighbours played in front of a small crowd helped no doubt by the early 6.30pm throw-in with John Paul Kiely of Fedamore in charge. The home side Croagh-Kilfinny made all the early running with four unanswered white flags from open play in as many minutes through Maurice Lenihan, Pat Lenihan and John Wall (2) before white flags from open play by Darragh O’Donoghue on 5 minutes, Darragh O’Carroll 2 minutes to leave 4 between the sides, Croagh-Kilfinny 0-5, Granagh-Ballingarry 0-1 on 7 minutes. Sean O’Gorman won a point back for Granagh-Ballingarry from open play on 8 minutes before John Wall finished past the Granagh-Ballingarry keeper a minute later to extend the Croagh-Kilfinny boys’ advantage to 6, 1-5 to 0-2 on 9 minutes. Darragh O’Donoghue on 10 minutes and Jack Hartnett on 12 minutes raised white flags from open play for the Granagh-Ballingarry boys cancelled out from a placed ball by Gearoid Lenihan on 14 minutes and Darragh O’Carroll a minute later to leave 6 between the sides, Croagh-Kilfinny 1-7, Granagh-Ballingarry 0-4 at the end of the first quarter. Darragh O’Donoghue split the uprights for the third time from open play for Granagh-Ballingarry on 16 minutes cancelled out by Pat Lenihan on 18 minutes before Darragh O’Carroll raised the Croagh-Kilfinny boys second green flag two minutes later to extend the home side’s advantage to 9, 2-8 to 0-5 on 20 minutes. White flags were traded by Pat Lenihan play on 21 minutes and Darragh O’Donoghue free on 23 minutes, Gearoid Lenihan play on 25 minutes and Darragh O’Donoghue free on 26 minutes, John O’Connor play on 27 minutes and Darragh O’Donoghue free on 28 minutes before Croagh-Kilfinny No. 13 Declan Walsh split the uprights from open play on 30 minutes to send Croagh-Kilfinny in at the interval leading by 10, 2-12 to 0-8.
On the resumption white flags were traded by Darragh O’Donoghue from a 65 on 31 minutes and Pat Lenihan play on 32 minutes, Maurice Lenihan play on 33 minutes and Darragh O’Donoghue play on 34 minutes, Darragh O’Donoghue free on 35 minutes. Substitutes Patrick Hartigan play on 36 minutes. Substitute Jack O’Donoghue play on 38 minutes, Maurice Lenihan play on 40 minutes, Darragh O’Donoghue free on 42 minutes, Darragh O’Carroll free on 43 minutes, Darragh O’Donoghue line ball on 44 minutes and Darragh Carroll free a minute later to leave 10 again between the sides, Croagh-Kilfinny 2-18, Granagh-Ballingarry 0-14 at the end of the third quarter. The Croagh-Kilfinny boys had a trio of white flags through James O’Brien play on 7 minutes, Darragh O’Carroll play on 8 minutes and a 65 a minute later to extend the home side’s advantage to 13, 2-21 to 0-14 on 50 minutes. Darragh O’Donoghue won points back for Granagh-Ballingarry from placed balls on 52 and 54 minutes before James O’Brien raised the Croagh-Kilfinny boys’ third green flag 2 minutes later to extend the home side’s advantage to 14, 3-21 to 0-16 on 56 minutes. Darragh O’Carroll of Croagh-Kilfinny split the uprights following a good solo run on 57 minutes before white flags were traded by Josh O’Connor from a placed ball on 59 minutes and Darragh O’Donoghue from open play on 60 minutes. The final whistle sounded shortly after to leave Croagh-Kilfinny impressive 15 point, 3-23 to 0-17 winners over gallant Granagh-Ballingarry to joint second in the table on 2 points with Staker Wallace, one behind Pallasgreen with a game in hand with Newcastle West. The Croagh-Kilfinny boys who gave a most impressive all-round display margin of victory would have been far greater was it not for the top class saves made by Granagh-Ballingarry keeper Keith O’Kelly that would lay just claim to brilliance.

Granagh-Ballingarry with a strong all round team performance made a winning start to their County Under 17 Hurling League Division Group 3 campaign with a hard fought 3 point 1-15  to 2-9 win over gallant Tory Gaels Croom-Crecora-Mainistir played in cold, dry, windy conditions in Ballingarry on Wednesday evening.  The Granagh-Ballingarry boys laid a firm foundation for victry in the opening 30 minutes going in at the interval by 3, 1-9 to 1-6. This win sees Granagh-Ballingarry go joint top of the group on 2 points with South Liberties also 3 point 1-8 to 0-8 winners over Croagh-Kilfinny on Wednesday evening, when they play in round 2 on Wednesday 15th April in Dooley Park, Ballysheedy at 6.45pm. Cork get U20 Championship campaign back on track with 9 point win:
Cork 4-18 Limerick 0-21
Cork after going under to holders and All Ireland champions Tipperary by 2 points, 1-21 to 0-22 in the opening round, got their Munster U20 hurling championship campaign back on track with a 9 point, 4-18 to 0-21 victory over Limerick at Pairc Ui Chaoimh on Wednesday evening. This win sees Cork go joint second on the table with Clare on 2 points, two behind Tipperary while Limerick pointless at the bottom of the table with Waterford. The Treaty boys will now have to regroup ahead of their next out where they will face another stiff test against Clare in round 1 one point 1-10 to 0-12 winners over Waterford today Wednesday 8th in Sixmilebridge at 7.35pm. Clare book phase two semi-final spot with 7 point win:
Munster U20 Football Championship Phase 1 Round 3
Clare 2-11 Limerick 0-10
Hard luck to Limerick who suffered their third straight defeat in Phase 1 of the Munster U20 Football Championship, when going under to neighbours by points, 2-11 to 0-10 at Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale on Friday evening. The results means the end of the Shannonsiders involvement in the business end of the competition and Clare into Phase 2 of the round robin in the Munster U20 Football Championship with Kerry, Cork and Waterford. We wish the Limerick boys and the management team the best of luck, who now play Tipperary in the Munster U20B Final on Thursday 9th April at 7pm, Mallow for the John Kerins Memorial cup a competition won by the Treaty Boys in 2004 and 2005. Hard luck to the Limerick minor hurlers, our own Danny O’Grady, a member of the squad, who suffered a three point 1-17 to 1-14 defeat to All Ireland champions Waterford in the opening round of the Munster Minor Hurling Championship in a hard-fought contest played in dry, cold conditions at Pair na nGael on Friday evening. The Shannonsiders will have to regroup ahead of their next outing against Clare on this Saturday 11th April in Sixmilebridge at 2pm, who suffered an opening round defeat on Friday eveningto Tipperary by four points, 4-20 to 3-19 at Semple Stadium, Thurles. Your support for the boys in green and white would be appreciated in Sixmilebridge on Saturday for the 2pm throw-in to cheer them on in their bid to get their Munster Minor Hurling championship campaign back on track.
Limerick claim 15th League title:

Hearty congratulations to the Limerick senior hurlers manager John Kely, captain, Cian Lynch and our own Donal and Darragh O’Grady and the rest of the management team on winning their 15th with an impressive 6 point, 1-27 to 1-21 victory over gallant holders neighbours Cork in front of over 41,000 at Pairc na Gael on Sunday, Aaron Gillane with 1-7 3 frees and Aidan O’Connor 0-8 7 frees 1 65m Adam English 0-3, Diarmuid Byrnes 0-3 1 free, 1 65, Cathal O’Neill, Gearoid Hegarty 0-2 each, Shane O’Brien and David Reidy 0-1 each coupled with a strong all round midfield and defence paved the way for a 15th league title for the Shannonsiders and a third  under manager John Kiely following wins in 2019, 2020 and 2023. The National Hurling League Division 1A title has been won by 10 different teams, 9 of whom have won the title more than once. The all time record holders are Tipperary and Kilkenny who have won the league on 19 occasions, Limerick and Cork 15, Galway/Clare 5, Wexford 4, Dublin 3 and Offaly/Cork and Limerick will clash again in round 2 of the Munster Senior Hurling Championship on Sunday 26th April in Pairc Ui Chaoimh at 2pm.

County Football League Division Opener on Tuesday:
The much delayed meeting of Granagh-Ballingarry and 2025 County Junior A Football Championship winners Camogue Rovers in the opening round of Division 5 of the All County Football League goes ahead on Tuesday 14th April in Ballingarry at 7pm. Six teams have entered in Division 5 of the All County Football League – Camogue Rovers, Granagh-Ballingarry, Mungret-St. Paul’s, Croom, Fr. Caseys and Monagea with the top two teams to qualify for the final and promotion to Division 4 for 2027 and the bottom two teams relegated to Division 6. If teams finish level on points, scoring differential will apply. An exciting game is in prospect so come out and support the boys in black and green and their new management team liaison officer Eoin Casey, selectors Niall Cahill, Seamus Murphy, David Clancy and Andrew Holmes on Tuesday 14th Aprilin Ballingarry at 7pm in their bid to make a winning start to their All County Football League Division 5 campaign.

Clare recorded their first win in Phase 1 of the Munster Minor Football Championship with a 1 point, 0-14 to 1-10 victory over unlucky Limerick in Round 2 of Phase 1 in the Munster Minor Football Football on Monday at Mountcollins. This result sees Clare and Limerick go joint second on the Phase 1 table on 2 points, 2 behind Waterford who Limerick play in the final Phase 1 game on Monday 13th April in Lemybrien at 7pm where a win is a must for the Treaty boys to stay on course for a place in Phase 2 of the championship. Draw promoters hit the streets:
Granagh/Ballingarry GAA club draw promoters are taking to the streets of the parish to canvas members to join the club draw which will be held quarterly with €2,000 in prizes, 1 prize €1000 and ten prizes of 100 vouchers with the option to join in the club weekly lottery draw for €150 and the club draw lottery/county club draw for €200. National Hurling League Final Tickets:
Granagh/Ballingarry received a total of 28 stand and 49 terrace tickets for last Sunday’s National Hurling League Division 1A Final, Limerick v Cork in Páirc na nGael. Thank you to all club members for their co-operation to implement the sale of tickets as the demand for our allocation of stand tickets outweighs supply.
Ticketing Details for Munster Senior Hurling Championship:
Tickets for the first three rounds of the Munster Senior Hurling Championship will be sold exclusively through County Boards. This approach reflects the fact that four of the first six games are being hosted in smaller capacity venues while two games involve Cork, Limerick and Tipperary with the first round game between Tipperary and Cork being a repeat of last year’s All Ireland Final.
Any unused or returned tickets from County Boards will be released for public sale on the Wednesday prior to each game.

Round 4/5 tickets will go on general public sale on Wednesday 8th April.
Competing counties will also receive allocations for these games, ensuring strong county representation at all fixtures.
Season Ticket holders for the respective counties will be allocated tickets by the season ticket team. Queries regarding these tickets should be directed to seasonticketatgaa.ie A limited number of juvenile group tickets will be available for all matches apart for games at Cusack Park, Ennis and Walsh Park, Waterford. Easter Camp:
For the first time ever Granagh-Ballingarry GAA club will host an Easter Camp for our underage teams 6 to 13 year olds in Ballingarry from Tuesday 7th to Thursday 10th April 10am to 1pm. The camp will be run by a great mix of our adult members and some of our older underage players – a brilliant opportunity for the younger children to learn from them and have lots of fun along the way. The cost is €50 for the first child, €30 for any subsequent children (same family). Registration online. Payment will be taken on the first day of the camp. U21 Hurling a Football Amalgamation 2026:
Due to insufficient players available in Granagh/Ballingarry for U21 hurling and football in 2026 we have been granted permission by the County Board CCC to amalgamate with Rathkeale for U21 hurling under Granagh/Ballingarry/Rathkeale and Banogue for U21 football under Granagh/Ballingarry/Banogue. Thank you to both Rathkeale and Banogue and the County Board CCC for their help and co-operation in the formation of both amalgamations.

€14,400 Jackpot on Saturday:
There was no winner of the €14,300 jackpot in the Granagh Ballingarry GAA Club lottery draw on Saturday 28th February in Condron’s Bar, Ballingarry. The numbers drawn were 7, 16, 18 and 28. The lucky dip winners of €20 each were Breda O’Kelly, Cora Moran, Pat Rourke and Paul McCarthy. The next draw will be held on Saturday 7th March in the Rock Bar, Granagh for a jackpot of €14,400.
