Glenroe GAA Club Notes:
Opening Round Loss:
The first round of the Premier Intermediate Championship saw us face Dromin Athlacca in Knocklong last Sunday evening. Dromin opened the scoring with a point from play in the first minute. We responded with a Darren Frewen free. Dromin struck back with two points, with Glenroe levelling the game through Ciaran Kelly and Daniel Murphy. Dromin then hit three on the bounce but we replied, scoring four points from a David McCarthy free, Oisin Browne, Cathal and Daithi Dennehy. It was nip and tuck for the next 10 minutes, with our scores coming from Cathal and two Darren frees. The men in blue and white struck a goal to lead 1-10 to 0-10. Darren knocked over another free, while Dromin hit two points. Half time score read 1-12 to 0-11.
We were quicker off the mark at the start of the second half, scoring three points without reply through Daithi, a Darren free and Adam Frewen. Ciaran was replaced by Seán O’Donnell, while Dromin struck four points to lead again. We failed to score for over 10 minutes, with a Darren free stopping the rot. Pa Holian came on in place of Daniel Murphy. Our opponents scored seven points without reply to pull ahead even more. We didn’t score for a further 10 minutes, only for another Darren free and that was to be our last score of the game. Dromin closed out the win with two points, while we finished the game with 14 men. Full time score was 1-25 to 0-16. Tryrox Bootcamp Classes:
Tryrox Bootcamp Classes at the Gym in Glenroe GAA will also return this August. The first of these classes will be on Sunday August 16th from 8.30 – 9.30 am. These are hybrid-style training classes. All fitness levels welcome, adults only (17+). Classes are €13 pp, payable on the morning (PAYG).
