Croom GAA Club Notes:
New Flagpoles and Flags:
Our new flagpoles and flags are now proudly in place at Croom GAA Field, adding a fantastic finishing touch to our grounds and creating a great welcome for everyone who visits. A huge thank you to Darrin Naughton and Mike Mangan for all their hard work, time, and effort in making this happen.
Croom’s Cúl Camp is taking place from August 10th to 14th in Croom GAA Field. Open to boys and girls – between the ages of 6 and 13 – with an action-packed and fun-filled week of activity during which revolves around maximising enjoyment and sustaining participant involvement in Gaelic Games.

📍Minor Hurling:
The Tory Hill Gaels minors continued their hurling championship campaign with a comprehensive win against Croagh-Kilfinny in perfect weather conditions last Wednesday evening (29th July) in Croom GAA Field.
The home side got off to a good start and despite some wayward shooting in the first fifteen minutes, went in at the break well ahead on a scoreline of 3.14 to 1.04. The lads maintained their lead in the second half and despite the best efforts of Croagh-Kilfinny, went onto win with a scoreline of 3.25 to 3.12.
📍Premier Junior Hurling:
Our Premier Junior hurlers made the short trip to Ballingarry last Saturday to face Askeaton/Ballysteen/Kilcornan in the opening round of their Championship.
ABK made the stronger start, dominating possession and registering a number of early scores to put Croom under pressure. However, our lads responded well, settling into the game, holding their shape and sticking to the game plan. Their hard work was rewarded as they battled back to leave the sides level at the interval.
The second half was just as entertaining. ABK enjoyed a strong spell and opened up a significant lead, but this Croom side showed tremendous heart and determination. Outstanding work rate, resilience and a never-give-up attitude from every player in the blue and white saw them claw their way back to level the game once again.
A thrilling contest from the first whistle to the last and a hard-earned point to open our Championship campaign with a final score of Croom 3-16 to ABK 2-19.
📍Junior C Hurling:
A historic night for our club as the first-ever Croom Junior C team lined out in a challenge game against our neighbours, Fedamore on Monday, 27th August.
It was a proud occasion for everyone involved, with players, families, supporters and coaches all enjoying the opportunity to see this new team take to the field for the very first time.
The lads were out in the first round of their Championship on Sunday evening away to Ballybrown.
The blend of experienced players returning to the fold alongside a talented group of younger players saw Croom settle well into the game. Despite creating plenty of scoring opportunities, we couldn’t make the most of them, but the sides remained closely matched throughout the opening half. The second half proved more challenging as tired legs began to show and a number of injuries disrupted our momentum. Ballybrown took advantage and pulled away in the closing stages to record the win. While the result didn’t go our way, there were plenty of positives to take from the performance. This group showed great commitment and determination throughout, and they’ll no doubt learn from the experience as they look ahead to the next round of the championship. A special mention to Angus and Jack McNamara, who lined out together as father and son. A proud moment for the McNamara family!!

The Tory Hill Gaels Minor Hurlers are out again in the next round of their Championship campaign to Blackrock in Kilfinane Field at 7.30pm.
Wednesday, 5th August:
The Championship continues for the Tory Hill Gaels Minor Footballers who are set to play Galbally at 7.30pm in Croom GAA Field.
Friday, 7th August:
– U14 Tory Hill Gaels hurlers are out in a challenge game against Southside Gaels in St. Patricks GAA Field at 7.00pm.
– Junior Ladies Footballers are out in the first round of their Championship against Ahane in Ahane GAA Field at 7.30pm.
Sunday, 09th August:
– Croom Premier Junior Hurlers are heading for Newcastle West to take on Tournafulla in Round 2 of their Championship run, throw in at 12pm.
– Crooms Junior C Hurling team are also out in Championship against Askeaton/Ballysteen/ Kilcornan in Croom GAA Field at 7pm.
