“ Limerick GAA have been working on a number of initiatives to acknowledge the 50th Anniversary of the 1973 All Ireland Senior Hurling victory and this Sunday the panel of players from 1973 will be introduced to the crowd at half time” said Paul Foley, Chair of the organising committee.
“We are appealing to supporters to give this team an appropriate ovation during half time in the main game” he added.
Limerick County Board Chairman Seamus McNamara endorsed the call “This is a unique opportunity for all of us as Limerick people to show how grateful we are to these players for their outstanding contribution. Let`s demonstrate our appreciation of the history they created by giving them a rousing tribute.”
1973 Captain Eamonn Grimes said “We are honoured to be participating with this acknowledgement at half time on Sunday. It`s a really nice gesture and will be a special day for all of us. We will especially be thinking of those who were part of the 1973 win and who sadly now are no longer with us.”
“We`re really looking forward to it” added the captain.
