BLACKROCK GAA CLUB NOTES

At a time when we have no sport, and very limited movement from our own area, the activity of the club over the weekend has been inspiring and uplifting for the club. We carried out a 48 hour runathon for Pieta House organised by the senior players and carried out by the players from the senior, junior B, U21 and minor teams with a bit of help from management and officers and exiles oversea’s bringing an international feel to the event. Huge thanks is due to joint captains Paudie Leahy and Kevin Palmer and Niall Moloney. It was a fantastic achievement and the enthusiasm and commitment from all the players was inspiring. I only hope we have some hurling so that the teamwork, loyalty and fitness of our players can be used to the max.

Most importantly we have raised €11,401 on Sunday night the 17th for Pieta House and we are very proud to have raised this. It could not have been done however without the financial support of the public and we are overwhelmed and delighted with the money raised, there is still time to increase the final tally. Our goal was raised twice during the 48hrs and we have made more than double our original expectations. Well done and huge thanks to everyone who donated.

Hopefully the world will be a safer place with the funding of Pieta house.

As we ease back on restrictions in the covid 19 battle I would ask everyone to move cautiously and stay safe. We will have to learn to live with this virus and we need to stay away from risk until a cure and vaccine is secured.
