BALLYBRICKEN/BOHERMORE GAA CLUB NOTES

Underage: During the week our U13 hurlers beat Blackrock on a scoreline of 6:09 to 2:02. Some brilliant performances on the night out the boys. On Saturday morning our U7s were hurling in Ballinacurra. There was a great turnout and the club was proudly represented. U11s are away to Pallasgreen on Tuesday night with the U15s at home to crecora/south liberties on Monday night.
Junior A Football: On Wednesday evening the lads will take on Oola at 7:30pm in Caherelly in Round 4 of the East Junior A Football league.
Junior A Hurling: On Sunday morning in Caherlelly the lads took on Doon in Round 3 of the East Intermediate Hurling League. Bally came out fired up with Dan McGuire taking lovely score inside the opening 30 seconds to get them up and running. Once again Conor McCarhy’s eye was in as himself and Doon traded scores which saw the lads leading 5 points to 3 at the water break. Bally again started brightly after the break with Niall Mitchell and Eoighan o’neill taking some lovely scores leaving bally leading 8 points to 6 at half time. Bally again started the quickest with two points inside a minute until Doon hit with a fast 1:01 from play to level the game. Bally and Doon traded a point each, with bally knocking over a few more to leave them 0:16 to 1:09 up at the second water break. Bally then upped it another level in there last quarter and completed outplayed doon with he backs showing serious effort and setting up the forwards nicely. Alan O’Riordan and Darragh Hogan putting in serious shifts. Eoighan o’neill buried a lovely goal and bally ended up winning on a scoreline of 1:17 to 1:09 to remain unbeaten after three games in the competition. Subs Used: Darragh Hogan. Our next outing is away to Kilteely Dromkeen on Saturday at 4pm.
Junior B Hurling: The lads were away to Ahane in the third game of City/East Junior B Hurling League in a very enjoyable game. Bally led at the first water break 2:03 to 0:05 with Dylan Conway and Jamie O’Donoghue rattling the back of the Ahane net followed up with points from Colm Teefy and Aidan Power. Ahane railed before half time tipping over some lovely scores but David Grimes and Aidan Power kept the lads motoring with two very important points. At half time bally lead by two. The second half started brightly with both sides exchanging goals after Adam McCarthy fooled everyone to bury one from way out. At the second water break the game was there from the taking with bally leading 3:06 to 1:11. The final quarter was like the classic Waterford V Cork game of 2004….. it had everything!!! bally reduced to 14 men after the restart and both teams trading points to leave the game level.. Ahane missed a clear goal scoring opportunity after a heroic save from John Casey to deny them. Bally then won a penalty which was cooly slotted home by Aidan Power before bally were then reduced to 13 men after a heavy tackle in the heat of battle. Bally edged out in this triller on a scoreline of 4:08 to 1:13. Both teams producing great performances and some serious scores taken. Club Lotto: The Ballybricken/Bohermore GAA club on the 21th June 2021 was held at the Clubhouse but unfortunately there was no winner of the €9,200 jackpot. Congratulations to Paul Martin, John and Kate Shire, Eamonn Mitchell and Marian Hourigan who were the lucky dip winners. The next draw is on Monday the 28th June with the jackpot now at €9,300.
