BALLYBRICKEN/BOHERMORE GAA CLUB NOTES
U21 Football: We contested the county u21 A football final on Saturday last losing out narrowly to Shannon Gaels 1-08 to 1-06. Played in Rathkeale’s Mick Neville park in very foggy conditions the game started with a couple of wides before Jason Cross kicked a fine point after a give and go with Adam Shire. The match was being tightly contested and our hard work was turning over possession in the middle of the park, leading to Jack Cross kicking a point leaving us 0-2 to 0-1 after 15 minutes. Our opponents struck for a goal against the run of play but we countered with a point from Darragh O Keefe a free from Jason Cross and a Niall Mitchell goal leaving us going in at half-time a point to the good. The second half started with Shannon Gaels pinning us in our half and we trailed by two after 10 minutes we responded well with the score of the game coming from Jack Cross shrugging of his man with a dummy and slotting over Jason Cross added a free to leave the sides level 1-06 a piece with fifteen to go. The game was getting stretched as bodies tired every score was going to be vital as we trailed by one, we tried in-vein to kick an equaliser and we conceded another score late on leaving us running out losers by 2 points. A hard one to take for all involved as there was nothing between the two teams but great credit to players and management for their hard wok over the last few months.
