U9 football blitz:
Our u 9s travelled to Glin on Friday evening last for a blitz, we had two teams of ten players, boys and girls. They each played 3 matches against Shannon Gaels and St Kierans, in a fantastic hour of football. well done to all who took part.
Work is continuing on our training pitches, with machines up there levelling both top and bottom areas in preparation for drainage, to be followed by a sand carpet, and seeding. The club is also increasing our car parking area, in an effort to get all cars off the public road.
Well done to the U8 girls team who traveled to Ballyhahill last Monday night. On the night they played Gerald Griffins, Fr Casey’s and St Senans. Their skills and determination are improving with every game. Thanks to the coaches for their dedication, the parents for their support and Gerald Griffins for hosting a lovely evening.
Congrats to our U12 girls on a great display against Gerald Griffins last Friday night. Our numbers were low on the night but that didn’t deter the girls from putting on a great display of football.
Hard luck to our u14’s who were defeated by Oola in the league semi final last Wednesday night in Cappamore. The girls are improving with every game they play and we look forward to seeing them progress in the championship in the coming weeks.

Athea 3:7 St.Kierans 3:4
Athea played a fantastic game of football on Thursday evening last in Athea. Athea started strongly leading 1:4 to 1 point at one stage but to St.Kierans credit they scored 1:01 just before halftime leaving little between the teams at the break. St.Kierans started the second half on fire dominating in every position on the field and scored 2:2 with out replay in a 10 minute spell. Athea to their credit never dropped the heads and in the last 10min scored 2:3 to come out on top at the final whistle following a very enjoyable game of football with excellent skill levels from both sides with the Athea subs contributing hugely to the late Athea recovery: Scores: Daniel Hunt 1:03, Mark Collins 1:02, Aaron Broderick 1:0 and Shane Ahern 0:02. Team; Eoin Ahern, Nathan Ambrose , Kane Brouder, Jamie Brosnan, Paddy O’Connor, Tadhg Hunt, Tony Ambrose, Jack Leahy, Daniel Broderick, Daniel Hunt, Aaron Broderick, Aaron Hunt, Conor Leach, Mark Collins, Joe Scanlon, John Ahern, Liam Og Reidy, Owen Kenrick, Se Ahern, Cathal Fitzgerald, Shane Ahern, Oisin McCarthy.
U13 Boys Hurling:
Our U13’s played Ballyduff in a challenge match in Athea on Wednesday 14th June. It was a hardfought match and teams were level at half time but Ballyduff finished very strong. Well done boys every match ye are getting better and skill levels are really improving.

We had over 60 U7 footballers at Park na nGael in Athea last Saturday morning taking part in a local Blitz between Athea, Mountcollins, Feohanagh/Castlemahon and Shannon Geals. We had 12 teams altogether and Everyone got to play 3 matches. It was played in beautiful sunshine and great fun was had by all teams involved, well done to all of them and thanks to all the parents and coaches for giving up their time to make it happen.
