U9 Champions:
Our under 9s headed to sunny Coolyroe on Sunday evening to take part in the annual Nigel Bouke football tournament. We faced Drom Broadford in the semi-final where our defence was dominant and set the tone for our forwards who picked off some fine scores. We eventually ran out comfortable winners and qualified for the final against a much-fancied Castlemahon side. The final was a much tighter affair and a really tough game. We played with the wind in the first half and led by 3 points at half time. Castlemahon came out strong in the second half and cut the gap to just a point within minutes. Athea showed incredible determination and resolve from this point on; they tackled and fought for every ball and Castlemahon were met with a wall of maroon and white which they couldn’t break down. We went on to score another goal and some outstanding points on our way to becoming champions. The cup was presented to joint captains Shay Fitzgerald and Daithi Mulvihill who celebrated wildly with their teammates. This was a fantastic team performance where every player played their part. Thanks to Castlemahon for inviting us once again, and their wonderful hospitality on the evening.
Team: Ollie Rohan, Eimear Collins, Aoibheann Brouder, Tadhg Collins, Bill Collins, Ewan McCarthy, Shay Fitzgerald, Pippa Sheeran, Maurice Linehan, Ruby Linehan, Luke Brosnan, Brogan O’Connor, Nathan O’Connor, Charlie O’Carroll.

U10 Boys:
Well done to our U10 boys who were excellent in their blitz against Monagea last week. They put in a very strong performance, played with their heads up, passed well to each other, and got some fine scores on the evening.

U12 Girls:
Huge well done to our U12s who played Mountcollins in atrocious weather conditions Friday evening. It was a great team performance with Isabelle brave in goals, our defence were tough on the trackle, our midfield worked hard, and there were well-taken scores in attack.
Thanks to Mountcollins for their part in a great game.
It was a busy weekend for our girls who capped off a great year with a blitz in Abbeyfeale. They played three great games against Fr Casey’s, Drom / Broadford and Glin. As always thanks to Fr Casey’s for their hospitality on the day.

U10 Girls:
The U10s had a great game against Tarbert last Wednesday evening in Athea. This is a very talented bunch of footballers, they were excellent at tackling and passing and kept to their positions, which resulted in some fine scores. Huge thanks to Tarbert for making the trip to Athea, well done to our girls on what was an excellent team performance. Huge thanks to Martin Chawke and the coaches for all the work they have put in during the year.

From outstanding goalkeeping and tenacious defending, to some brilliant passages of play and superb scores, this is a performance we’re immensely proud of.
